I am going to be backing my camper into a pretty tight spot next weekend and it would be nice to be able to use low range.

Would I be able to disconnect a vacuum line and plug it temporarily for a week so I can use low range without the front axle locking.

I know there are kits available to do it but I don't have time to do that right now, which is why I would like to do this temporarily.

The trouble with just pulling the vacuum line off is that the CAD can slide over and engage without vacuum on the other side to hold it there. The stock system, if it is the same as on my year, allows vacuum to be applied on one side of the unit for 2WD and the other for 4WD, switched by the transfer case, which eliminates the chance of it moving when you don't want it to. If you want to temporarily use 2 wheel low, then find out which line has the vacuum on it and make sure to apply that to the side of the CAD unit that slides and holds it in the off position. I would guess that with the truck running and in 2WD, the line with vacuum on it should be applied to the CAD fitting that is opposite of where that one normally goes. Does that make sense?

That is correct. Take one off, put it in 4wd and drive it. If it goes into 4wd, indicated by the light, reinstall it and pull the other one and cap it off. This is fine for a temporary fix. The posi-lok is a good long term fix. Free-spin kit would be the best. Lots of $$$. Don't waist your money on the BD 2 wheel low kit. You are still stuck with the crappy vacuum diaghram. I can't even figure out why the still make it. The posi-lok is a cable system that has worked flawlessly for almost two years. Good luck.
