2 wheel low - what is it, what does it do, what are the advantages of having it, and last but not least, can I install it??

Its a kit that keeps your 4x4 from working when you're in 4 low. Keeps you from binding things up when twisting around a lot on a hard surface, like when wanting to back a trailer slowly on blacktop. I'm thinking of putting one in my truck, just haven't got around to it yet.

I had the Bob V kit in my 99 and would do it again if I bought another Ram. Installation went good but he was there helping me.

Bob V's kit is the only way to go, it addresses all the needs of the CAD, and works great. Installation is a 30-45 minuet ordeal that only involves accessing a few vacuum line at the top of the transfer case. Really the only tough part is seeing the lines while you are working on then, just get a good drop light and maybe someone to hold it. There is no electrical wires involved and the switch mounts to the console or shifter.

another happy Bob V customer

Backing my 30' 5th wheel is not even on my list of favorite things to do. I just don't do it often enough to get good at it. So being able to go really, really slow, even with a manual transmission is a major relief!

If you installed all the stuff on your signature, then this is an easy job. It was the second mod I did to my truck after the Jordan trailer brake controller. Bob's instructions are first rate as is the quality of components.

I put the switch in an inconspicuous place where I wouldn't accidently hit it. Switch forward is normal position, switch backward is 4WD disengaged for backing in 2-low.

I didn't install all of the mods in my signature, most of them were installed by BPine. Is there a link or address where I can get more ifo in the BobV switch?

just a thought... can you just install manually locking front hubs and not lock them in when you want to have 4wd lo. It has been a couple of years but it seems the my CJ-7 worked that way.

Yes switching to manual hubs would allow the transfer case to be in 4low without the front axle engaged. I used to do it on my old ford all the time.

y-knot i was just looking to add an option to his plate. i had no problems with my manual hubs on my jeeps (cant say that i miss them though)

The only thing I hated about my the manual hubs was I usually forgot to kick them in. So I had to get out in the mud and kick em in.

The one thing I liked is I don't have to worry about a vaccum pump or a bunch of lines not working. It was pretty simple ya shift the transfer case and lock the hubs.

The 2 low kit was the best thing I ever did. I have to back up a hill and around a 90 degree turn to get my trailer in my driveway. The clutch chatter and the drive train wind-up was driving me crazy. The install was simple, just splicing a couple of vacuum lines & running a switch inside.

My question is - has anyone come up with a 4 low kit for the 3G truck? I think it's 4L is electronic.

He sent me several emails in the last few days

his email is listed in several posts.

I did a search for 2 whl low and bob v and pm(d) him thru a post

Give Bob a little time, it is well worth the wait. He may be busy at work, or on vacation. I have his phone number somewhere, and if I find it I will PM you with it.
