Hitch plug wiring problem

Black streaks

temps

I haven't ordered the kit yet but it is next on my list!

Had to back my fiver up hill in loose gravel into a tight spot and the temps got up to 240 degrees real fast!

I have nothing against Bob's kit, but I just went to the wrecking yard, found a normally open pneumatic switch which I plumbed into the line leading to the front axel. I wired a toggle switch into the dash that activates the switch to close it. Throw the toggle on the dash, the pneumatic switch closes and vacume can not activate the front axel connect. Total cost about $3. 00

Is there a solution for the 2002's that do not have the vacumn line? I believe these were all manufactured after manufactured after January 5, 2002. Thanks in Advance. .

2003 2 wheel low

Does Bob's setup work for 2003 vehicles? I see a lot of posts for earlier models. I hope so. This would be ideal for parking long trailers in campgrounds.

Thanx,

Jim

In 2002 Dodge did away with the front axel disconnect, I believe all the newer trucks are this way, that makes Bobs kit useless to you, no it won't work for you.

TT1, You are correct, my 2WL will not work on rigs built after 01-2002.

Also I just learned that my e-mail software may have a automatically deleted some of my incoming mail so if I haven't replied to you please try again. I am very busy at my regular job so it may take a while to get back to you.

merryman, I would like to point out a few things about turning off the vacuum to the whole system. First, the actuator for the front axle disconnect is a double acting, it need vacuum to engage and vacuum to disengage the front axle. By turning of the vacuum to the entire system it is possible to have the front axle partially engaged, even though the dash 4WD light is out. Second, the vacuum must be turned off BEFORE you shift into 4WD. It is also important that the valve be set up as a 3-way valve so that it vents off the vacuum downstream from the valve or the trapped vacuum will partially move the CAD. I do not want to "flame" this system, if the person understand its limitations it will work without doing damage to the vehicle. What my kit does is add a manual valve (more reliable than an electric solenoid valve) that allows the driver to engage-disengage the front axle any time the transfer case is in 4WD, even while moving.

Ahha yes, I just flip the switch on my 2 Wheel low put my 6 SPEED :D in reverse and let her idle back into the ole docking station. :D :D :D.

Was hoping some of the "locals" had this on their trucks... How tough was the install Clff??

Gota remember now... I have an auto:rolleyes:

Bobs kits come with very detailed instructions. Easy to read and easy to understand wiring schematics and vacuum diagrams are included to make it a painless install. And, you dont need to be an engineer or a rocket scientist to install it. Simple had tools and an hour or so to put it in. I love mine and wouldnt be without it. Originally I had the one way switch that was discussed earlier. After my front end made a few loud clunks, I promptly removed it and went with Bobs super shifter kit. I use it everyday, and have had no problems at all.

Using his fee schedule on number of expletives per hour... I'd have to say this is about a $25. 00 install:D

I'm gonna get it and if I run into problems I can always pony up some cuss money for Blair:D

Have a great one in May Madness!!!
