I've read all of the threads that I could find on this problem. I've checked the arm rotation, replaced the multifunction switch on the column and still have no intermittent function or low speed. Should I change the motor? my reservation is that all that I have read is on earlier model trucks. Can anyone that has 2002 help me? Has the electronics changed? Is there any place that I can find direction or should I buy the manual? Any help would be appricated. . I do hate changing things until I find the problem.

RPhillips,

Manuals are always good.

Do the wipers return to the Park position when turning the switch to Off?

Disconnect the wiper motor plug and test for B+ (battery voltage) on the BN/WT wire on the truck side of the plug when the wiper switch is in the Low position (key position in either ON or ACC). You should see battery voltage on that pin. If so, you probably have a bad connection in the motor itself. RD/YL = High.

If the power checks out make sure that the pivot mechanism for each blade has not corroded up and has become a so hard to turn that the motor, in low speed mode, can not move it. (the intermittent function uses low speed)

Disconnect the motor from the wiper mechanism and see if it works on both speeds and that the intermittent function works. (likely that they will both work)

If so. . remove the wiper mechanism and find out which side (i'm betting pax side... . I've seen three of them now) is bound up. (on all three the bottom o-ring was missing)

The wiper mechanism is a non-servicable unit... ... (riiiiiiight!!!!) :-laf

Take your time to remove the retaining clip ( just slowly work it off with a couple of thin flat blades) and "beat" the shaft out, clean it up and lube it with a synthetic grease that withstands water, reassemble.

There is some good information here!! Not trying to hijack, but what does it mean if your wipers stop wherever they are when you turn the switch to off, or a lower speed? Doesn't do it every time, but you usually have to turn off, on, off, on a few times to get them to "park. " Thanks!

Doug & Bruce, Thanks for the info on testing and mechanical. i will do all this weekend for the weather in our PA mountains is not to great right now. I will respond as soon as I have answers. Thanks again, Roy
