Tried starting one of my 03' this morning (w/auto trans), would not turn over at all. No clicking sounds, nothing at all. All gauges work, dome light comes on. Disconnected both batteries and tested, both are fully charged. Checked codes: P0602 (CHECK SUM ERROR???) and P0700, I do not know what this is, my fault code list does not show this code.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Frank

First off, P0700 is Chrysler's way of saying that you have trouble codes stored in your transmission control module. You'll need a higher end scan tool to fetch those. Alldata says for the P0602 - Reflash the PCM. If the code persists, replace the PCM.

So basically you need to get it to a shop that can attempt reflashing the PCM, and get yourself ready for throwing a new computer in it.

That's what I was afraid of! Getting it towed to a local dealer, I also have the N62 (left tie rod recall) notice. I'll have the dealer check that also while it's in the shop. Thanks

Dealer finally called yesterday with update - they found wires from my fog lights and temperature gauge wire in the trans. pan both had shorted out and I needed a new starter. I gave them the go ahead to proceed with the work. I JUST RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALER STATING THE TRUCK IS " DONE" and to come in and pick it up, I asked what the total cost was and his reply was $2779.64 !!!!! I nearly fell out of my chair!!!
His answer was that the stater motor it self costs $1010.00 and the rest of the costs where with locating the shorts! I told him to remove the starter and I will pay for restocking fee's and I will have the truck towed back to my place and put an Auto Zone Duralast starter in for $158.00!! He told me to hold on, and said he would talk to the parts department and see what he could do for me and proceeded to tell me the stater lists for $694.60 (his costs)! No call back yet! Incredible !!!

You've got to be kidding me! $1000 bucks for a new OEM starter? Wow? That's one hell of a mark up by the way. I would also be interested in knowing what exactly was shorted out in the starter and how fog lights and temp gauge sensor could have caused it to short out Without taking half the truck with it. Seems very strange to me.
