2006 Dodge engine damage - Cannot get answer!! *UPDATE*

I'm sorry, but this deserves it's own thread, they are ignoring my calls now and will not give me an answer on my truck.

Summary:

I had an oil leak.

It was towed to the dealer.

It has been 34 days that they have had it.

So here's what happened today:

I called, they transferred me to his voicemail yet again.

I hung up, called back, told them "I can't get anything but his voicemail. "

They say let me try & find him, then they transfer me to his voicemail. :-{}

I hang up, call back again, it just rings, rings, rings, then transfers me back to the receptionist. :{

She transfers me again.

It rings.

Back to the receptionist, she says she'll page them.

It rings.

Back to the receptionist, she says to hold.

Then finally it transfers me to another guys voicemail.

Ahhhhhhhh!!!! :-{}

So then I call Chrysler.

I tell them my truck had an oil leak and has been at a dealer for 34 days.

He says, "How many days?"

I say... THIRTY... FOUR... DAYS.

They say give me the last 8 digits of your VIN.

I say, "I can't get that because my truck is 200 miles away from me. "

There is a long pause of silence, as if he is trying to comprehend my situation.

Then he says, "Well if you can get those #'s and call us back we'll be able to help you. "

I say, "Let me talk to your supervisor. "

He says, "I'm sorry sir but I'm the lead supervisor on the floor. "

Finally I find my VIN # on my insurance card.

So then he calls the dealership & puts me on hold a while.

He comes back, says he has logged a customer care request with the dealership and that will "get the ball rolling. "

I say, "There's nothing more you can do, do I need to call or something?"

He says no, and that I need to give them another day or two to follow up with that request.

Then he tells me in a prick voice, "You have a good day now sir, bu bye. "

I'm never buying another Dodge, this has been the worst experience. Time I can take... the damage may even be my fault, but to totally ignore me and take 34 days having my truck and it's still not fixed whatsoever... that is just wrong.

Suggestions?

Try calling the general manager of the dealer. Tell the receptionist that it is a personal matter when she asks what the call is about, and use a fake name. Get him on the line then calmly explain that you are looking for status but your calls are being dodged by the svc mgr, and that you really don't want to have to escalate the situation any further. He should be able to get you something.

Have it towed out of that dealer to your home town, you say it is 200 miles, I think you are getting the run around, I doubt DC has even looked at your truck let alone the dealership it is at.

Get it back to your selling dealer and let them fix it, I bet all of this non warranty BS will be gone as soon as you get it out of that dealer.

you might be better of showing up to the dealership when the guy is working then it would be hard to avoid you they will be to afraid of you making a scene in front of other customers.

The other part that sucks...

I broke down while on the road, so my truck is at a dealer 200 miles from me in another state. I have no vacation time until June, and they are closed on the weekends.

Have you contacted the BBB where the dealer is? How about a TV station in the area that does investigative reporting? Sent a certified letter asking for the status and state that if a status isn't supplied or it isn't fixed you will be charging him of lose of use/time/income at some rate and that no response will be taken as an agreement to your terms? If you are self employed follow up with a bill.

There something you are not telling us

What wrong and what happen to your truck and why Is It not under warranty? If you are talking In a bad tone that won't get you anywhere. Catch more bees with honey then sour grapes. Always be nice. No ones likes someone that rude. I feel that If you call them and talk IN a nice way you will get answers. Sorry I feel there something you are not telling us. Hope thing work out for you.

When I had legit issues with my service department, Chrysler advised me to call the owner since most dealerships are privately owned. They said the owners are more likely to help than anyone. After all it is there name in the end that is getting drug thru the mud. Needless to say, one call to the owner of my dealer and the poroblem was solved.

Of course this was also at the same dealer me and the in-laws had nought 8 vehicles from in the last 6 years. :D I was sure to mention that when I talked to him. :D

Yep... what JRG said. That thread specifies the background of what I've been going through.

I have been extremely patient and have not bugged the dealer. I have tried to work with them very kindly because I accept responsibility for the repairs "if" my mod caused the issue.

However, regardless of if my truck is under warranty or not, it should not take 34 days for a dealer to give me more info.

The service manager called me last week and sincerely apologized for it being so long. He said his employees dropped the ball on it and he took responsibility, which I really appreciated and kindly thanked him for. He promised to have me an estimate on repairs by Monday or Tuesday, since it had already been a month.

Well for the past 2 days I have called, left messages, gotten the run around, and he is there but won't call me back. I talked to other people and they said I have to talk to him. I have been very patient and kind up to this point, and even talking to the dealership I was polite and thanked the woman for taking my message, after she told me he had gone home for the day. I have not bugged the dealer but maybe once every 2 weeks up to this point, but now that I am at day 34... 35 tomorrow, I am starting to push more because it is ridiculous.

They aren't fixing my truck, they are getting an estimate on repairs, and it's been 34 days. They at first told me they were waiting on an oil same for the first 3 weeks, then the manager called last week and said that wasn't the case and it was their fault. Now they won't return my calls at all.

I feel helpless, I am at their mercy.

i dont get it it seems like all dodge dealerships are like that i had got hit on my box side and they said it should take one to two weeks but it took over a month and a half to get it back and the service manager was doing the same to me. but i found it pays off to get on their nerves by bugging them every day about it

Jonathan,

I think you have been more than fair. It seem to me that there is more going on than they may be telling you. As have being in mgnt myself (non auto)I suggest if and when you talk to the service mgr, ask him to just honest and up front with you as to whats going on. If you don't think he is being forthcomming there are many options for you.

You could called your local service mgr and explained your situation and get suggestions. Heck they may offer to send a tow truck to get your truck to just get the business.

Again, it sounds like there is something going on "behind the counter" that is holding things up. Try to be civil a little longer and tell the dealer what YOU expect from here on out. Good luck.

Exactly where is the truck at? Maybe someone here can go rattle the cage for you. I would do it for you if it was close to me.

It's at a dealer in Jackson, MS. =(

I have called there.

I have called Dodge Customer Care.

I have sent a complaint via internet into Dodge Customer Care.

The woman told me she will leave a note on the srv manager's desk to call me first thing this morning.

We'll see if he follows through today. Don't get me wrong, he was a really nice and honest guy when I talked to him last and I'm sure he's just busy, but after 35 days if he says he'll call me Mon or Tues, I expect to hear from him, or at the very least return my calls promptly the same day. It's Thurs now.

********UPDATE**********

Well the service manager called me first thing this morning and gave me some answers. Again, he's a really nice guy so I hate to get him in trouble, but he apologized again, said he knows they've let me slip through the cracks and dropped the ball on this one.

I did get some answers though, they changed the oil in my truck and have been running it to see if the fuel has built back up in the engine. So far it hasn't, but they don't want to just send me on my way down the road and it happen again, so they are trying to be thorough which I appreciate.

So they are going to drive it around a good bit today to see if it happens again, and they are going to call Dodge tech to see if they've seen anything like this before.

He said he has tried but still can't change the Chrysler reps mind on covering it under warranty, but so far from what he's telling me they can't find anything wrong with it, but they are still looking because obviously a problem happened somewhere.

So I'm back in the game and happier, all I wanted was some answers because I know it's a unique situation and again, may even be my fault, so I am trying to be very patient, and I think 35 days without complaining at all is pretty darn good.

Thanks for the support and help, I'll keep you updated, he promised to let me know something this afternoon, and I do trust the guy, he's been awesome when I talk to him, it's just a matter of catching him.

Maybe a piece of dirt got caught in an injector seat and caused it to leak for awhile, but it "passed" that piece and is working OK now? That would cause very high temperature in one cylinder though.

Get rid of pressure boxes (or downloaders that raise pressure), and get your injectors honed. It's a lot more reliable, and they will get a good cleaning, and will be able to pass larger particles.

And replace the o-rings. I think if you have too much pressure (as with a FASS) you could pressurize the return line and cause it to leak fuel into the oil.

I had a friends truck do this and then they changed the oil and about a week or two later it did it again although he said the motor hesitated while driving it and then he checked his oil when he got home and it was high again

Hey it's not just Dodge.

I've been having my transmission rebuilt and a clutch installed since 2 months ago, mand when I went to pick it up two mondays ago, 4th was grinding very bad. I told the transmission shop, and they said, 2 days, they would put my top priority, pull the trans out, rebuild it, and put it back in. It's been 14 days since that conversation, and the trans is still in the truck.

However, the south bend clutch is awersome!

Plus, they hit something with my truck when putting it in the service bay, ruining over $200 in new front bumper parts I just had put on, and won't claim up to it. Not to mention the original shop that pulled down, and re-installed the transmission ran into the back of my truck with their forklift. Also 3 months ago the sound system shop I was getting some work done at let a newbie tech drive the truck to the back and caught a dually fender on a gate.

It's not just Dodge... .
