Hello Just asking a friendly question.

I am not looking for a flame war or a starting an argument just looking for a interested input

I'm not too sure if any of the new emissions standards were implemented on the 07 but my 06 i great. 121,000 miles and haven't changed the serpantine belt yet. Not a problem in sight.

'06 & '07 5. 9's are equal and have much larger software & electronics management of engine & transmission control for seamless Tow Haul & Exhaust Brake operation than do earlier 3rd gen years.

Both my rigs, at freeway speed give 63-65 mph give 21. x mpg and neither are fully broken in yet.

I believe these '06 & '07's will become pinncale of last legally performace upgradeable "muscle-truck" era.

Moreover, recent EPA green light for individual states setting regional emmissions standards, I believe most defineable enforcement line will be drawn at build dates after Jan. 1 '07, aka the 6. 7's.

All owners of DPF (diesel particulate filter) engines that have recieved aftermarket OEM alterations will be "frog marched" back into compliance when (not if) inspected.

So now's the time to make up for missing out on that factory original '72 Chevy Chevelle SS or Dodge Charger or Corvette Stingray. . , get a Cummins '06 or '07 5. 9.

YMMV.

NICE. I LOVE MY TRUCK. Wish i could by two more: Shortbed dually, and a long bed MEGA.

The 06's have more performance upgrade options. Because the 07 5. 9 was really only made for 6 months the aftermarket is less ambitious about writing software for them.

Love my truck n the TDR! Both never let me down. Big thanks to you both! Hopin to run this one till I`m done with my dash!

I'm overall happy with mine. In the 25K miles or so that are on it, I regularly see 17. 5 mpg or so in the mixed driving that I do and consistant 20+ mpg on highway only trips. It tows, hauls, stops, steers, and rides better than any of my previous trucks.

There are some little things that bother me that are completely unrelated to the engine itself. The interior design, especially the seats, isn't the greatest I've ever seen. And, I absolutely hate the way my G56 shifts. Apparently, I'm the only one with that complaint, but give me the NV4500 that I had in my 2nd gen any day over this thing.

Because of guys on the TDR that really did their research, I was one of a few that found a new '07,5. 9 with the LATE G-56 (6. 7 ratios). Both my . 01. 5 and my '07 were bought with advice help from the TDR. BOTH, ('01. 5 sold,) have been outstanding trucks.
My only gripe is the "chincy" clutch.

Issue free on my '07 5. 9. G-56 shifts much better than the three NV5600's I've driven, but the NV4500's do shift the best. The autos are mush and the manuals will need an upgrade if you want to up the power much. Cloth seats are hard, but the dash is minus the fake wood. Steering and brakes are unreal. So far,so good.

I think my 07 5. 9 is great. I'm impressed everytime I drive it. So far it has been trouble free. The only thing I have never liked is the tail lights. They remind my of a Chevy. I wish I had the 06 tail lights.

Took the advice of the TDR and others and jumped on this one-2007/DRW/Auto/4x4/MEGA/SLT/5. 9---do i really need it "NO" ,but i want the last of the best. I will still keep my 2001 for me as a toy and the HP factor as it still puts a half ***** grin on my face every time i drive it. I have a whack of mods/cash into it so i rather keep it than lose my shirt or let it sit and rot in the garage than let someone else enjoy it for a fraction of the price/money into it. (blood/sweet/tears):-laf. . The 07 is more for me/Mrs now as she would like to be able to drive an auto/diesel pick-up,more user friendly for her. The 07 actually came out of the northwestern states, close to the B. C. border,i flew out,did the final deal and drove 700 miles home all within 24 hours. LOVE it so far,the older i get the less i want to work/shift gears. This one will be a little tame though, just some basics---guages/Smarty/mild transmission work and some cosmetic stuff----The Mrs let me build one truck already:), i think i may push my luck if i do too much to the second one:-{}:-{}:-{}. I sure like my 07 auto, I got it for the same reason, the last 5. 9. I was going to wait a couple more years then I hear no more 5. 9, no way I need one now! 64k and no problems yet!!

Today I found out that I need a new injection pump on my 07 5. 9 with 28k miles. The last 2 tanks of fuel have shown horrible fuel mileage and every once in awhile I'd get a smell of raw fuel coming from the engine compartment, so I finally took it to the dealer. They found that the CP3 was leaking fuel.

I asked the service rep what might cause this and he shrugged and said it's just a 'part failure'. Apparently it's rare cause they don't have any in stock.

Other than that, the 07 has been good, but not as much fun as my 98. 5 was.
