Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 2010: How many miles on your 24V?

260,000 Mi. on my 89. 5 with a "53" block.

I got it at 200k and already had a reman sticker on the VP.

I took the oil pan off and found the KDP safely in the bottom.

I replaced two lift pumps before going to a FASS 95.

Got trans temp, LP fuel pressure, EGT, and boost gauges.

I run two yellow top optima's, PSC 3. 5 turn S box, replaced all the front end and brake stuff.

Recently added: Smarty, 4" turbo back exhaust, intake manifold, 2 lo kit, replacement dash, instrument bezel cover, new audio and new upgraded PS pump

123,000 on the 00. Replaced vp44 20,000 mi ago. Needs a clutch now. Other than that nothing major just wear items.

Just turned 200,000 today. Original VP44, to my knowledge. Still runs good. Starting to show some rust though.

Now doesn't start in cold weather.

Also, occasional rough idle.

Update

121,000 miles. 2nd VP44, 3rd OEM LP on the way out, fuel level gauge needs replaced, nursing a sick 47RE (Goerend planned), going to 3rd Gen rims and Toyo ATs, cracked dash, Hydra-boost leaks, need air bags.



I love the truck but am torn if I should sink $7-8k to fix or sell invest the cash in a 3rd Gen 3500 Quad with more payload and room for my two boys.

I decided I couldn't part with my '99. No payment, for the most part does everything I ask of it and I know it like the back of my hand. Ordered a transmission from Dave Goerend yesterday. Now I won't be able to sleep for the next 2-3 weeks in anticipation of delivery!

247,000 miles to date on my 2001, Bought the Truck September 13th 2002 (Friday ) with 62,000 miles for $19000 :-laf from a Dodge dealer in Lexington KY, the dealer thought the truck had issues (which was a plugged fuel filter) and they didn't like the huge steel bumper on it which has now killed 1 mazda and 1 VW with only suffering minor scratches (both were the other drivers fault). Went through 4 lift pumps by 100K miles under warranty, added a FASS 150 at that point. Replaced my original VP44 @ 230,000 miles. Replaced trans with a overpriced crap shifting P. O. S. upgraded NV4500 from Blumenthals #@$%! at 220,000 miles. I had most upgrades shown in my signature installed by 100K miles.

Bought mine 10 years ago this year and currently have over 250k on it.

1) One VP44

2) Only needed 2 L. P's. Actualy had three but one is my spair, thought one died but it was a gelling issue. Been on the frame rail for 8 years.

3) One clutch

4) Front end has been rebuilt

5) One APPS

6) One water pump

All the usual wear and tear items of course. Thought about a new one but the prices they are asking and the payments are too much for me. The way mine is running I see no reason right now to get rid of it.

busted dash

has anyone tackled replacing the original dash in a 2002? Mine is busted and beginning to fall apart. Would like to replace versus cover the busted one.

low mileage 2002

I've had my 2002 dually since 2005. Only have 74K miles, replaced LP w/Fass, other than that, still stock. I pull a 38' living-quarters horse trailer: loaded around 13,500 pounds, no problems so far, but I don't hurry or push hard either.

has anyone tackled replacing the original dash in a 2002? Mine is busted and beginning to fall apart. Would like to replace versus cover the busted one.

Last year or the year before I called Chrysler Customer Care and talked to a very nice lady about my dash top. Two weeks later she called back and said that Chrysler agreed to cover the labor cost to replace my dash top. All I paid for was the actual top itself which was $420.
