I am having an issue with my 2011. When I press the remote start twice the truck will start up, but will only run for about a minute then it shuts down. Is there a way to reprogram or reset it to run for 15 minutes like it use to do? I checked the search and about all I found where people wanting to keep their trucks from starting with the remote. Maybe another phrase for the search.

I don't know anything about the 2011's.....but, is there a message on the dash that might explain why it was canceled? On my 2015, if I remote start it....and it's low on fuel (for example) it will shut off and it will say something to the effect of "remote start cancelled due to low fuel". I am sure there are other triggers that will cancel it after it starts.

There is an inhibit monitor the dealer can see with the scan tool. I didn't think any of the inhibits would let it run for a minute. They usually give one honk of the horn and no crank, or they start and shut down within about 5 seconds.
REMOTE START SYSTEM

Before attempting to diagnose a problem with the remote starting system, first be sure the starter motor and starter solenoid are working properly. The starter should operate with the use of the standard ignition key in the ignition switch. Any starter or solenoid problems must be repaired first.

Also be sure the engine will easily start and run with the use of the standard ignition key in the ignition switch. Any engine running, idling or driveability problems must be repaired first.

Also note that the remote start system will automatically be cancelled if any of the following occur:

• IF THE ENGINE STALLS OR RPM EXCEEDS 2500
• NORMAL TIME OUT RUN MODE (15 MINUTES)
• CUSTOMER MOVES IGNITION INTO RUN/START
• ANY VEHICLE DOOR AJAR
• TRUNK/LIFTGATE AJAR
• HOOD AJAR
• START COUNTER REACHED
• LOW RPM SHUTDOWN
• KEY IN IGNITION
• BRAKE APPLIED. IF THE VEHICLE IS REMOTE STARTED AND THE CUSTOMER THEN UNLOCKS AND ENTERS THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE APPLICATION WILL NOT STALL THE VEHICLE. IF THE VEHICLE IS REMOTE STARTED AND NO ENTRY IS DETECTED, BRAKE APPLICATION WILL SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE.
• LOW FUEL LEVELS. FUEL INDICATOR ACTIVE.
• THE HAZARD SWITCH IS PRESSED
• NOT IN PARK OR NEUTRAL
• VEHICLE SPEED HIGH
• VTA ALARM TRIGGERED
• PANIC MODE ACTIVATED
• BATTERY VOLTAGE HIGH
• BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW
• LOSS OF BATTERY VOLTAGE
• MIL ON
• LOW OIL PRESSURE
• COOLANT TEMPERATURE HIGH
• CRANK NO START
• RKE OFF MESSAGE
• VEHICLE NOT CONFIGURED
• HOOD SWITCH NOT INSTALLED OR INOPERATIVE
• NO AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
• INVALID KEY
• IGNITION SNA
• IGNITION NOT IN LOCK
• VEHICLE IN SHIPPING MODE
• VEHICLE NOT PROGRAMMED

If all of the previous items checked OK, and the remote starting system will not operate (Refer to 29 - Non-DTC Diagnostics/Starting - Diagnosis and Testing) .

Pretty comprehensive list of parameters there, the only thing I don't see is...

>DRIVER SLIPPED AND FELL ON ICE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO GET IN, NOW LAYING UNDER VEHICLE<

And Yes, I have done it.....:D

Sag2,

You are right about the one honk and shutting down after 5 seconds. It does not run for a minute. I made a trip to Montana about three weeks a go and while driving (about half way there, just entering Spokane) my check engine like came on and the information note said I needed to service my parking system. When I got to Montana that is when I noticed remote start issue. Thanks for the input. I will work on my motivation issue (working 12 hour shifts that sometimes turn in to 16 hour shifts) and work on my parking system and see how that affects my remote start.

Mine 2011 has done that a couple of times and there has been an existing code. Once I cleared the code, it remained running. Good luck.

KTimmer,

Thanks, I cleared the codes and now the remote start is working like it is suppose to. That's what I like about this forum, If there is an issue most likely someone else has experienced it and knows the "fix". The codes p-2196 and p2bac where identified. Now, the back up sensors. Take Care.
