2012 fuel filter on 15?

A friend of mine gave me a spare fuel filter he had for his 2012 Ram that he no longer owns.
I see the part numbers are different between my 15 and the 12, but are they interchangeable?
The filters look the same, but I just wanted to hear someone else's experience.

Your truck requires the NanoNet 3 micron filter. The 10-12 trucks used 5 micron but it was a good idea to change to the 3 when it became available.

Personally I would give it back.

10-4. I figured there had to be a difference. I'll just pass it on to a guy at work with a 2012.

Good call. On my 11 when the 3 micron became available I used it right away.

We recently found out that Bosch recommended 4 micron filtration when Cummins went to HPCR. Cummins didn't give us Nanonet until recently, so using 10 or 7 micron filters back then probably contributed to the widespread injector failures on Third Gen's.

Yes I agree. A friend only made it to 130K on his 03 and had DDP replace his injectors.
