So..I am still having problems with the rear end rumble on take off with my truck..Dealer has lowered the carrier bearing in order to improve the drive line angle..now it seems that this issue is getting worse..the rear end rumbles on take off when I'm pulling my trailer..when it warms up it rumbles worse..also feels like its more pronounced in turns..at the dealer now and they are taking the rear end cover off and looking to see if anything is wrong there..next step is to get another truck and see if it does the same thing..problem with that is this truck is kind of rare..its got the air bag suspension with the 4:10 rear..I'm wondering if anybody else is having this issue with their truck and this combination??:{:{

I've only got about 2000 miles towing so far but I haven't had that issue. I have the 373 instead of 410 but it's still the 11.8" rear end. This last trip was from Mobile to Gatlinburg so I got to experience a good bit of different terrain. The gps turned me into a residential neighborhood in Gatlinburg with a few steep spots. Enough to where I dropped down to 1st. On one, I really got down on it just to see and I felt a small rumble but it was short. The rest of the time was fine. My wife kept telling me to slow down but I couldn't resist. I was driving a bit harder than normal to feel more of my truck. It was a fun experience. I wasn't using the alternate ride height.

I have the same combination and I don't hear anything in my rear end, both before and after my stretch (stretch obviously requires a new driveshaft and therefore the angles change slightly). Only drivetrain noise I have is the very pronounced "clunk" when putting it in gear. Sounds like I'm operating giant farming equipment when I put it in reverse/drive. :D

In the last 1,000 miles of towing I have noticed what I would describe as similar to when you have the 4wd on and turning on dry pavement. It has happened only when taking off from a stop and turning at the same time. I have 22K on the truck with about 8K of that towing very heavy. I know these trucks don't need limited slip lube but it feels a bit like it needs it. I will be heading from SoCal to WA starting tomorrow and will be back at home base about the 8th and will be popping off the rear cover.

Does it do it only with the trailer? Is the ride height the same with trailer as it is unloaded? If it only does it loaded and the ride height is lower than unloaded they moved the carrier in the wrong direction. On a non air suspension truck if it shudders unloaded you lower the center bearing, if loaded you raise it. Not sure on the 16, but for the earlier trucks there are about 4 different height bearing mounts available. Before they go on a parts changing adventure they need to understand what they are chasing. More than likely the differental doesn't care what the load is when going straight ahead. Tight turns with heavy weight on rear of truck can and will cause shudder as the differential tries to lock up.

I know what launch shedder feels like I had it on my 11 HO Dually with 3.42's when taking off on a grade loaded.

This feels like it's inside the diff. Mine does not do it when unloaded.

If you're in 4wd on dry pavement then it doesn't surprise me you "hear" something. Your transfer case is binding up because there isn't a center diff...and that's putting incredible pressure on your drivetrain. As heavy as you're loaded I'm surprised you don't break a ujoint under those conditions.

I guess I missed something. Why do you think Ron is in 4wd?

I can tell you it is getting worse. Trailer hitched going straight taking off NO NOISE. Turning from the start to the "left" it is a grabbing popping sensation. Backing with wheel turned left same thing. Taking off with wheel to the right nothing unusual. I am in Fresno and have 4 days with 300+ miles of towing before I get home. I am hoping it stays together til then.

Like I said before it all started recently and has progressively gotten worse. With the trailer off it does not do it. The truck rides the same height with or without a load with the rear air suspension in Alt trailer mode.

Some binding/popping on right turn and left is getting worse while towing. Starting while unloaded now.

Do you think it could be weight related, you tow a tremendous amount of weigh, plus the pin weight sitting on that axle. They rate them ,but do they really test them for that real world weight for thousands of miles. Or did you just got a bad one ???

Sounds like it's getting worse if it's doing it now while unloaded?

Some of the AAM axles used on 4th gen Rams had some misalignment. Sounds like a warranty issue???
