My 2003 3500 was a SRW, so no you don't have the first.

Yep Your right I don't have the 1st SRW ( one of the 1st ) 2013 3500 was New Frame and Suspension , 69 Aisin , They also changed Injectors and internals, It was the 1st year for SCR in Ram Cummins Pickups, it was in earlier Models of CC 2011

So one of the 1st that Year. Still no codes or problem even after it been sitting for two weeks in My drive Way , I started it today and took it to the shop.

Sorry, should have probably said SCR but I just moved up from an 03 which has non of this junk to a 2017 limited longhorn, aisin, etc and I don't know why my profile isn't showing

I just hope it gets resolve, a lot of times when new owners get SCR codes right away the connections and the harnesses are poor on the exhaust, I recommend Dia-electric on those connections, Some drive in deep water and BAM the dash lights up like a Christmas Tree. Dia-electric stops current and future problems

and here I bought the 2017 hoping the issues had been worked out and worried that if I waited for the new version in 2018 that I might be the test dummy for all the new things that might happen

You'll be alright , its been a rough Road for us owners with bluetech Motors on the emission for some , its pretty solid platform for the most Part , it just came early for Ya..... It will get resolved and Grin and smiles after that.

There ordering and replacing CAT... The vehicle is NOT equipped with a CAT...No help there either...literally 100s of reasons for codes, What I find common with codes is driving style, Owners dart drive this creates many communication errors on 1 trip codes.

Drive a Bluetech Diesel Motor Like gas and you will have SCR/DEF codes , ease into the power band and most SCR/DEF codes will disappear or never trip, The CEL lights when indicated to do so, once lit it has no way of turning off until conditions are met or turned off form device/Scanner.

What is "Owners dart drive"..............

Racing form stoplight to stoplight, Just to sit and wait at idle to race to the next stoplight. They used 80-90% of the APPS just to back it off to 50% or less. When they could just ease into it and maintain speed at 50% APPS, that type of driving creates soot that gets recycled into intake and plugs the system eventually and increases Active Regens 2-3 Fold.

The SRC or CAT or whatever quit on my '14 in August, at about 45k, no problems till then. They kept it ten days or so, because the part was back ordered. While It was there, I made them a deal on it, and ordered a the identical in a '17, except I went with air bag suspension on the new one, and it rides smooth, the 14 had the vibration nobody could fix. It came in Oct 7th, and so far no problems, but only have 2400 on it right now.

Had def issues on my 2016 3500 and after 5 trips to the dealer they found a bad connection on a sensor .The fix took 10 minutes *once they found the issue no problems since. This *occurred *around the 5000 km mark and 20000 kms later no more issues knock on wood . Good luck

You should read all the problems the early buyers of the L5P Duramax are having....the Cummins at least has most of the bugs worked out...

My 2016 has had no mechanical issues. The satellite radio is another story, it cuts out periodically and screen flashes, it's had the antenna and cable replaced. As for the rest of the truck, we bought it on June 15th 2016 and less than two weeks later, we were pulling our 32 foot fifth wheel from San Diego to Mt Rushmore, Yellowstone and back to San Diego. No issues with the truck at all and much more comfortable than the '95. To the OP, the hardest part is the troubleshooting process. Today we have too many "mechanics" that are really just parts changers and follow the prompts on a computer to know what parts to change without understanding exactly why it's being changed out. They'll get it right eventually, good luck!
