Is there much difference between the two other than size and is the resolution the same? I'm considering between two trucks, one has 8.4" with the Safety group package and the other has the 12" without the Safety group package. They both have the HK upgraded speakers. I think i would prefer to have the safety group package and I like the fact that I can turn the heated wheel and seats on by an actual button over using the screen of the 12". Thanks for any information!

Yes the 8.4 seems to have less bugs. And you get more hard switches, as you noted. 12" is a gimmick in my book.

I didn't like the 12" display. I like physical buttons and knobs. I hate having to navigate menus to change HVAC controls and such. On the 12" you can have the HVAC controls on the bottom portion of the screen, but it still isn't as good as the knobs.
I will take the 8.4" all day long.

I will add that even with my 8.4 I don’t have actual buttons for my seat heat/vents. That’s because I have the aux switches.

It’s not a big deal not having switches for some things, but I still don’t like what little time I have with the 12” screen.

Having a 2020 Ford Edge SUV with Sync 3, I can tell you that uconnect is a much better system. And my EVIC in my 2015 RAM is 10 times better than the Ford's drivers info dash. Trouble was FCA had no 2 row SUV that compares to the Edge ST with it's 335HP twin turbo 2.7L V6. It's performance compares to SUV's from Europe that cost 10's of thousands more. I the spring I am going to try to attend Ford's free ST SUV Experience in Park City Ut.

My 12" Etch-A-Sketch has been glitchy from day one. It was in a particularly foul mood today, spontaneously locked onto the front camera, which was not selected, which is a very common thing, but rather than going away on a restart, the popup menu for seat heaters and coolers popped up, and the rest of the screen went black. This persisted for two more restarts, as I was doing some morning errands around town, before it finally found its keister. So far, FCA has refused to replace it, just wait for another update, they say.
