I get 16. 5 MPG empty, running in city traffic in Seattle.

If I use the highway, it gets over 17, but the only long-distance hauls are fully loaded.

Loaded I get 12MPG, that's with a 10' 2900# cab-over camper, a 2000# trailer with a 3500# Jeep CJ-8 on the back. Ran from Seattle to Lake Tahoe (Rubicon) and back.

It's a '99 2500 4x4, 3. 55 gears, 4speed auto, BFGoodrich AllTerrain 285/75R16 tires, K&N filter, all else stock (for now)

Hope that helps.

Chris

Outlier - throw this one out!

In spite of my driving habits, high profile, large tires, tall gears, and overfueling, I still get 12-14 mpg with about 2/3 highway 1/3 city. If I'm really nice and no headwind and keep it under 70, I can get 19 mpg. I almost never drive it loaded or towing.

Haulinh

@ 65 mph empty, 16 mpg

@ 75 mph empth, 12 mpg

Towing with 10,000 lb 24' box

@ 65 mph, 9 mpg

@ 75 mph, 5. 5 - 6 mpg

This is in the hills of PA, WV, and KY.

I am sorry about the low figures, but my foot never lets off the loud pedal. I love to hear my truck run. I slow down intentionaly just to have the excuse to floor it!:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I've got some serious questions about the math abilities of people on this thread:D You guys are dividing miles driven by gallons used, correct?

I drive a '00 2500 4wd 6spd w/4. 10s & 315/75R16s. I have a VA CPC but it hasn't been on the truck the entire time. My average MPG is 15. 70mpg for the first 30k miles on the truck. Figure it was all unloaded, mixed city/hwy.

I think the bigger contributor is RPM, not speed. I got 17. 9 mpg by maintaining 2000 rpm which is only 66mph (gps) for me.

Good luck with your paper.

Brian

See signature for truck.

I average 16 in the city no load.

I average 22 - 23 on the highway no load.

I average city & highway 12 - 14 pulling 10,000 lbs .

Engine completely stock.

70 mph in Florida 17. 5 18. 0 Out of Florida 18. 5 to 19 mpg Better fuel.

65 mph 19 to 21 better outside Florida

Towing 6000lb boat at 70 12mpg, 65 13mpg gets better slower

See below for engine and transmission. 3:54 gears

Dave

I get 20. 5 - 21. 0 at 60 to 65 mph and 19-19. 5 at 75 mph and 17. 5 - 18 in town, stop & go. All of these figures are with the truck empty. I am happy with these numbers.

Bill

ps- I have not done enough towing yet to have those numbers.

2000 Ram 3500 6 speed 2wd Patriot Blue, all stock.

I'm currently averaging 20. 5 running interstate at 75 mph unloaded between Savannah and Macon.

Last load of 10K I got 14. 0 running 55-60 on the two lanes. Previous load of 10K I got 12. 0 running two lanes of North Georgia in the hills.

My high was 22. 4 running empty in the rolling hills of central Georgia with speeds of 55-65 mph.

The truck is a 2001 HO 6 speed with 4. 10s and will pull hell off the hinges if you can get it hooked up.

loaded mileage

Just ran 400 miles with tandem - dually trailer yesterday. 225 miles empty (maybe 14000 lbs total vehicle weight), 175 grossing 20,000 lbs. Averaged 13 mpg for the trip, running 60 -70 mph. My old 1/2 ton gasser would have gotten about that grossing 7000 lbs!! Ray:)

2001 quad cab slt 6. 5' bed, 4wd, auto, 3. 54 rear end, varies between 17. 83-18. 64mpg on local roads 21. 24 average on hwy, highest recorded is 22. 43 on July 4, 2000. I carry a calculator & a notepad for every fill up.

50 mph limit

01. 5 2500 regular cab 4x4, 4. 10, auto, 285/75's

With the speed limit maxed out at 50 over here im getting right at 17. 5 to 18. 5 unloaded. With a livestock trailer with 7000 lbs. of beef, it drops down to about 14 or so. Hope this helps. Aloha

A woman driving, so I'm sure you have a fudge factor for that... .

6 spd, 4:10 gears

highway spd 60 mph ave 21mpg

city start and stops( a real b *&ch) 17mpg

towing the trailer at 60 mph ave. approx 8500 lbs 14. 5 mpg

truck has 10,000 miles at this time, basically stock, other than the tire ht.

1999 2500 4X4 QC SWB Auto 3. 54

The best I have seen has been 19. 8 MPG.

Then I added the 275 injectors and the PE EZ... ... I have only run winter fue with this setup, and my average is about 15. That is with alot of idling in the morning with the brake on, and short runs to the hills to go snowmobling.

The worst wass before the mods pulling a 17,000 lb backhoe on a 5500 lb trailer... ... . 11. 5 MPG (lots of mountains)...
