Competition Exhaust Gasket (Turbo & Flange)

Competition SMOKED Another Lightning!

Valet on or off has no effect on building boost on the line, only the fueling after boost is attained is affected. The problem isn't building the boost it is not building too much.

Bruce

chris, find a low priced ecm and if you dont like it I will buy it :)

you will be a believer , trust me - Marco's flash spooooools like no other

Jim--does the boost build up fast or does it take some time???

It does fine Chris but it depends on the right foot, I can almost drown out the fire if I put it on the wood from zero boost, if I start at 1/4 and get the temps headed that way then try and build it's fine.

I'm not 24V guy but that ECM sounds good.

Jim

well I'd like to test one before I shell out money for it, but that's probably an unlikely scenario---guess I'm on the prowl for an ecm--chris

well I moved the air filter up on the wheel well and this seems to have made an unbelievable improvement in driving temps and overall driveability--guess I was either choking the system or breathing in too much hot air created from the alternator and exhaust manifold----I've yet to try to build boost off the line, but I was able to power up hills with the comp box off and I hit 47 psi at 1302* when I let off--this is compared to easily hitting 1300* at 20-25 psi when just starting up the hills and then having to back off to stay below 1300*----still more testing to be sure that this wasn't a fluke, but I'm feeling better--chris

Chris,

I've been thinking about adding a BB to my setup also. What is a steroided B1 and how does it differ from a B1b?

Braden

the steroided B1 is touted as a drag race, dyno and possible sled pulling turbo only--physically it looks the same as all the other B1's, but it's been massaged to help on the top end more than the others-Piers can possibly give you more info-I took it off as I was having temp probs(I thought it might be the cause, but I don't think it is totally the culprit, but I need to continue with the original B1 for now) and am using my B1 that's 3yrs old as the top charger---I'm still working on temps and spool up and once I've got that working with my original B1 I'll put the steroided one back on and see what happens--I may have to go down to the kwikspool to help with spool up if I can't get things to work out--I don't rush this testing stuff as I drive my truck everyday and I need to see how it works in all conditions before I make a final comment---the B1 on steroids may not be what we want as part of an everyday driving setup but I'll let all know once I get it deciphered, also the BB might not be what us 24v autos want either and it's possible it won't work so good for the manuals, but I'm gonna see how it shapes up for the autos--like I said yesterday was a big improvement which has me leaning to liking the setup more-chris

ok I was able to build boost tonight from a dead stop--bullydog step 5 injectors with the box off and the box on kill---I didn't smash the pedal to the floor but rolled into it(thanks Jim)--so between moving the air filter and Jim's tip I'm very excited about next weeks sled pull--elevation is around 2000 feet I believe where the pull is, so we shall see what elevation plays into this---chris

Chris, that is interesting that is works like that with a 24V, I do it mostly because the pump is so rich on the bottom end. A 40 should spool a little quicker than the steroid but not have the topend. Shame the Steroid won't go into my 40's housing, that would be some good R&D.

Too much timing hurts mine below 2K also, it would be nice to know were the timing is during all this.

Jim

I will swap the steroid back in later down the road once I get everything to work with my original B1--if I can't get the B1 to spool with bigger injectors then it would do no good to try the steroid at this point---chris

I put the monster BullyDog injectors in and just got back from a test drive to see how the truck performs and I'll say this they smoke more than the 5's, but the news of the day is I got boost with the box off and box on kill from a dead stop, so I'm jacked--temps seemed to be good for driving but a good freeway run will have to be done for that, but I did go up some hills and temps were in check--I'm stoked and ready---chris

Good news Chris, I know there is a little difference in the altitude of were your at vise were your going but it isn't that much of a difference... ... from 2100ft to 500 ft was about 25 hp (raw numbers) for me.

Good to see you go support your people and win there event, know they liked that!

Jim

Jim--the Bullydog guys are super nice people and yes it was nice to win the dyno, but I wanted to win the sled pull the most---anyway I'm so fired up about finally getting this to work out that I can't wait for the next sled pull now---I don't think I'll need to go to the kwikspool now which makes me even happier---I'll put the steroid on down the road after I've thoroughly tested the original B1 at this point---I'll have to keep myself in check so as not to burn off the 36x14. 50x16. 5 TSL superswampers----I think Nowel is smiling as I know he had high hopes for this setup especially with the steroid---chris

I'm hoping and right now it's looking better and better, but the sled pull will be the determining factor--I'm half tempted to drive back up to Bullydog and dyno again just to see what's happened, but that's a little to far so I'll just test it at the sled pull---chris

Chris, what kinda boost are you making with the B1 and BB? My thought in this situation especially with my 6 speed is my B1b combined with BB would spool relatively good compared to a standard B1, of course it wouldn't flow as nice but I have to keep mine totally streetable for now anyways:D

Chris. . Go over to San Ramon Dyno Labs @ 25 Beta Court 925-831-8240

and test her out... that's the place that Nowel and I were at the week before his demise

Ray Razon is the owner

PS. . if you go call me and I can give ya directions
