I have had two trucks that fall within that timeframe. I run fleetgaurd on both and have had no leaks. Now that its been said that there are spikes. It all makes sense. The thing is whiteknights filter was still in working order per fleetgaurd. The seal failed but the filter was still fine.

I just thought I'd let you all know that dad & mom traded off the 2001 truck for a new 2004. They seemed to do pretty good on the trade and are very happy with the 2004. We have both been very happy with the service received from the dealers in Farmington and Festus. Just would'nt ever go back to the one here in our town.

I'll just say thanks again to everyone here at the TDR because I don't think the other truck would have ever gotten fixed if it wasn't for the response here on the forums.

Glad to here it worked out. I bet your dad is almost scared to change the oil and filter after what happened to him on the last truck. I would be.

I know we're not supposed to "bump" threads. But I just gotta bump this one. I couldn't read all of it, my eyes started going buggy. Had to skip about 8-9 pages in the middle. Great story.

Had a "mopar" filter bought at Dodge dealer blow out on me. Split about half way

around the filter right where the crimp is on top. Had just changed oil and cranked

it up, saw good oil pressure at gage, and started around front to do a visual for leaks,

then POP-WHOOOSH! Shut it down before pressure bottomed out and only casualty

was my driveway with 6-8 quarts of Rotella running down it. Dealer gave me a new

filter but ha-ha'd about replacing oil. Switched to Mobil M1-403. And this thing with the gages - I'm astounded that

they would pull sometning like this. Mine will show about 20lbs when hot at idle

so maybe it is actually reading pressure? Looks like anybody wanting to reflash

mine is gonna have to whip me first!

it's possible the oil pressure regulator stuck. The filter gasket can only take so much pressure and the oil pump can dish out a bunch if the regulator sticks.

Arrgh, it's been awhile since this thread was visited. How are Whiteknight's parents doing?

For some reason I've been thinking about this thread lately. I don't know why... hope it's not an omen.

They are both doing fine. Their 2004 and my 2003 have not had anything but Mopar filters on them from day one. Most if not all engine service including oil changes are done by the dealer. I would love to use Fleetguard filters again, but won't until the engine warranty is out.

I hope it's not an omen, they are on a camping trip up around Hannibal at the moment.

whiteknight. Just had to read this from start to finish. Amazing is all I can say. What I really like seeing is all the updates over the 5 years this has been circulating! Good to hear that everyone is happy and that all is good.
