The batteries that are currently in my truck are starting to get pretty old, and the terminals seem to corrode even after trying to prevent the corrosion. And whenever it gets cold they always seem to end up drained.

I was trying to find the battery rating requirements for the second gen Cummins, have not been able to find that somewhere.

Also what would be a good replacement?

Thanks.

Group 27's. I used to be a fan of Interstate Batteries but the last 3-4 I've bought haven't lasted very long. Just enough to still be pro rated enough that I keep buying another, if not for that I'd be looking elsewhere. Probably look at the Die Hards.

The diehard platinum's are great choice albeit expensive. However if you have time to wait a bit they routinely go on sale. I picked mine up a few years ago for 150ish each (normally like 249). I don't remember exact specs on mine but they are I think 1150 cca. The size I bought were a little shorter than the stock ones so I just put a plastic spacer under the battery hold down (on top of the battery not underneath as the battery temps sensor under there wont work correctly if the spacer is underneath the battery). They are AGM style batteries. If you search on here there are several threads about them including sale info at least at the time but might give where to look for the sale price. Usually the good sale price is online only and for only a couple days, you can pick them up in the store even if purchased online. I was able to get the discount then stack another coupon or two on top of the discount.

here is one of the threads

41/2 years ago I put two batteries from Wal-mart in mine. They are still working. Until this year my truck has been parked outside. The batts cost 110.00 for 850 cca.
