I bought some seats to do this upgrade on my 92. They are grey cloth out of a 98 or99. I sold the 92 before I did it. My buddy just did this to his and what a difference. It is really worth it. If anybody needs a set of seats (I have the rear also)please PM me. I need to get them out of the garage!!

Does anyone know if the 3rd gen seats will fit, or are they too wide? I haven't seen any, except pictures, and they look wider.

From the posts I have read in the 3G forum, it sounds like the 2G seats are more comfortable. I really like them in my '97. Fit me really nice.

Sent you a PM. Somebody on here had done the rear seats, do not remember who. I know that you have very little, if any leg room. Be good for some little kids I guess. It would look good!

I have a rear bench in my 92 Club cab. I bought it from a company in British Columbia Canada. I was given the heads up by the awesome members here on the tdr. I think the website is

They make the kit to put a fold-up bench in the 1st gen trucks. It was a bit pricey but with the exchange rate(exchange rate now is worse for us US customers)at the time it was a pretty good deal. I paid alot for shipping across the country, and customs but I am happy with it. The only thing is they sold me on a bar for the seat belts that was supposed to be made for the set-up. Well it wasn't. It was a universal fit thing that was such a pain in the A$$. Never the less it is installed with the seat belt bar and the seat belts that i bought from them. I have my sons car seat strapped to it,and it over hangs the front a bit but not bad. I have sat in the back seat after insatlling it,and there isn't much room for the legs especially for a 6 footer like me. I got the seat because i wanted the 1st gen diesel but needed the ability to put a car seat in. I wouldn't recommend an adult sit back there for a long trip, but for kids it is fine.

Oh yeah they come in different colors as well. I got a grey one only because the blue was out of stock, andI would have to wait a while for one. I needed the seat for camping last summer so I got what they had. The company is a joy to deal with, and it was fun talking to the guy about some hockey as well(he was a big Canucks fan Go figure).

One big thing I would like to fix is the fact that the passengers seat doesn't slid on tracks likemy old F-150's seat did. It is such a pain to get to the back that i have given up on it and just lift my son over the center console and place him in the seat.

I put a back seat out of a Ford club cab in my truck works our good I had my daughters car seat back there and occassionally her and two freinds, its ok while they're six, the tallest sits in the middle next behind me and I slide my seat up, shortest behind the passenger..... cost me $30 or so from the wrecking yard... I did have to fab/weld some brackets to the seat bottom and attached the seat back, fixed, to the cab(the seat bottom can swing up, which was only usefull for installing the seat belts) the three seat belts were the rears out of ford passenger vans(awefull lot of fords at the wrecking yards around here... . )

I'm looking to do a swap in my 91; need something to fix my butt sinking 4" when I sit in it. (cant lose any weight or anything like that). I'm looking for a second Gen seat, but. . how is leg room in a regualr cab? the Ford seat in there now has an extra 2" of legroom over the other Dodge seats I've had; nice with my 38" legs. There was a thread a few months back about how to fab up some adaptors to make it fit like new.
