2nd or 3rd gen tailgate

I need a tailgate for my truck.

I found this ad on ebay. The add says its came off a 2002 but I don't remember my 2002 having a "Heavy Duty" badge. It looks like a 3rd gen tailgate to me.

Anyone have any input?

That's a 3rd gen, 2nd gen had a black molded 6" piece across the bottom, that rested on the bumper when in the down position. I always thought that was a great design, do not know why it was not continued.

The 3rd gen body hit in 02 for the 1/2 tons,the hd's were a year later

Maybe a build year 02 but a model year 03.

I was fairly sure this was a 3rd gen gate but I just wanted to make sure that I was not fooling myself for the price

not with Heavy Duty on the left side. I just realized that it has the rams head under the handle. WOuldn't that make it an 05 or 06?

Oh well doesn't matter. I lost the auction by $2. 50
