Hi, i'm relatively new to this site and was just wondering if it would be advisable to have a 3000 GSK spring kit installed in my pickup with the #10 plate i'm having put in? My truck is in the shop right now having the #10 plate, 3000 GSK spring kit, and gauges installed. I called to see if it was done and my mechanic said i should have heavier valve springs put in if I put the spring kit in because the truck would rev up to 3,400 rpms. I don't even know if i should have the spring kit put in now.

Put it in, you'll love it. It won't be hard to control the revs, so don't worry about the valve springs. If you got a 4kgsk, I'd put em in. Hang on!

Not a problem. Install them and enjoy. But know this, that stock auto ain't long for this world. Time to start saving for an upgraded transmission.

JK the valve springs are not hard to upgrade with a little know-how, and only run about $55 from Piers.

You won't even know it's the same truck next time you hop in it :D

3K's with a 215 pump (96-98 5 speed) will allow it to rev higher than other pumps, it just the nature of the pump as it is the best one but with a #10 plate it's pulling fuel back at that point and the power is dropping off.

Here is a dyno sheet of a 95 5 Speed with a #10 plate..... visual of what I'm talking about.

Thank you guys so much for the information. I put the the 3000 GSK spring kit in and it runs great but the pyrometer pegs 1,500 degrees when I really romp on it. Is this safe?
