Ordered a class V hitch for my 06 today and after ordering it I found in the small print (actually, print wasn't that small, I just didn't notice it before I ordered :) ). It says it won't work on trucks with a 34" frame. I have my truck with me but no tape measure. Anyone know what trucks this would be referring to or if there is any chance I screwed up and ordered the wrong one? (not looking forward to paying return shipping..... )

Thanks.

The 34" frame is the standard outside width on the C&C trucks, actually 33. 8",

Makes sense, far easier for body builders if everyone picks the same frame width for medium and heavy duty stuff.

Dodge also made the rear frame on the C&C trucks level flat as well, right???

Freightliner was 33 1/2" for years up until 2003, what a nuisance when you were trying to order fifth wheel units.

Mack was 33" back along.

I think everyone is 34" now except for Navistar who last I knew still persists in adding frame rail to the outside of the frame rather than to the inside when you spec a double or triple frame unit. Makes all kinds of parts in the rear different as well.

Mike. :)

2007. 5 and later Dodge Ram Cab and Chassis trucks use the 34" rear frame rail spacing and flat frame design also. The standardized 34" frame rails make the trucks compatible for the many choices in aftermarket truck bodies from flatbeds to cargo boxes and hydraulic dump bodies.
