Is there a website anywhere that has the full results of the pull? Or just the top 5 with distances for the classes??? Thanks.

The weight bar ain't the secret on the black Ford. I put one on mine and it sure as hell don't pull like Frank's. LOL :D :D :p

Oh my gosh!

Blair,

I was ripping on Joe more for NOT playing, than his clutch.

Gene,

The purpose of my post was not to hammer on Joe Donnelly but to make a point of pulling techniques. Joe is a friend of mine and I respect him greatly. I don't think it is very professional to try and distroy a good, honest person's name on the TDR. If a person is a liar and a cheat then hammer away, but this is not the case. Joe has only tried to provide parts for the rammers. I have recently had to deal with someone trying to hurt our name and it is not a good feeling when you try your best. If you would like to promote the Mitchells you can do so without hurting other people.

This is only my opinion, take it for what it's worth.

Peter

Did I promote the Mitchells above?

I was slamming ZJoe for sitting on the porch instead of demonstraing the legend"Sickly".

You are a tad bit preachy and hypocritical.

I do not think Joe D. is a liar or a cheat!

I thought this a was good chance for Joe to show me taking pucks off would hold at the track. He chose not to.

Lighten up, Francis.

Gene

:D :p :p :D

Gene,

I will not post on this issue again, but, I have always respected what you have had to say and you have helped a lot of people out with your knowledge about the dodges. I am not the best of writers and I did not mean that you were calling Joe a liar and a cheat but if someone were... . then hammer away. Joe is good people and I think you should recognize that. I must say that you might not have said it here but you have tried hard on some of your other posts to hurt Joe.

As for calling me "preachy and a Hypocrite"

I don't understand why you feel the need to slander.

You might not have posted here on the Mitchell clutch but you have posted on the TDR that you support their clutch, and you should!!! This is what the TDR is all about. They have a good product and you should let the people know.

These are your first bad words directed at me and I hope they are your last.

Joe, if I am not mistaken was the first to reach the 600 club and should be applauded for that. He should not have to hook his truck to a sled to prove that his clutch will handle that! He does however drive one badass truck and his clutch holds. I don't think when he started his clutch venture he was taking in mind sled pulling. He did his best!!

I have read some of your other posts about SBC and I appreciate your kind words whether it is on the TDR or other sites. I hope what I have said here does not offend you. My goal is to keep the slandering out of the picture unless needed. :)

What my favorite part of all this is, hooking up with you folfs and putting down a beer or two and talking trucks. Please don't wreck that for me!!!

Peter

can I finally get a beer after this last weekend

if depo wants I can interpret all the chicken scratch and post it

next year will be perfect I can assure you

all... ... ... ... ... ... ... .

Eric,

Are you speaking for the leader? because I know YOU are laughing your** off!

Peter,

Why did I say that? Because you were! Bad words, oh my!

I'm not very PC Peter, sorry. Maybe you have forgotten our conversation about different clutches? I haven't. Very good information, you brought to my attention some very interesting things.

I never said Joe was bad people!!! Try to hurt him?

Educating people about a pitfall is not hurting Joe. It is OK for me to hammer Centerforce,eh? Noone seems to mind that.

The first one to 600 hp? Right. I'll give you ONE of the first.

I'm still having fun!

Gene

:D :D :D

Hey Gene I hope what you say about just playing with Joe about not playing with his clutch is true, from what I have read on other threads it doesn't seem that way. I try not to hold grudges life is to short and I always seem to work things out. These trucks are to fun and I don't think we need to get all tweeked out about it as others in the past have.

The Sachs clutch is high grade cast iron but was not designed as a slipper clutch for sled pulls. High heat tends to crack iron, the Hittites found that out millenia ago. Using the clutch as a "slipper" clutch will overheat it. Peter of South Bend and I agree it is quite risky, and we are collaborating on a blast shield. You should know NHRA and other racing associations require them. Clutch explosions are not pretty, tend to amputate body parts, and should be EXPECTED sooner or later by sled pullers and racers. DON'T DO IT WITH THE RE-WORKED SACHS CLUTCH. I think Peter feels the same about the Sachs and his clutches also: if you race/sled pull, you are on your own and your safety is your problem.

Gene, you claimed a few months ago to have 275 hp in your Ram and so I wonder how much of your clutch trouble is driving style or abuse? Others are using the Sachs clutch with over 400 hp. I told you months ago how to get more torque capacity and also told you if you want to remove the clutch I'll have my clutch man look at it and see if there was a problem with the clutch itself. He would make an accommodation if that is the case. Instead, it appears you would rather slam the clutch on this forum and on diesel central. Do you just want something to complain about? I told Steve St. Laurent I didn't want you to get one of the Sachs clutches in the first place because of all your complaining on the TDR forum but he assured me you would not be that way. I also discussed the prototype and compromise nature, and the strong an weak points of the clutch with you before YOU CHOSE to try it.

All clutches are compromises, and high performance applications carry their own problems, with limited to non-existent warranty. ANY clutch can be destroyed in minutes or even seconds depending on how it is used. As Peter noted, the folks using his clutch for sled pulls at Tulare did well because they let it out and let the engine and tires do the work at the pulls, instead of slipping the clutch. He makes an excellent clutch but I bet it could be destroyed too. It seems that you have become convinced that only the Mitchells' clutch can please you, and that's fine. You are entitled to change your mind. These selections are YOUR CHOICES. No one forced you to try Centerforce or Sachs clutches, and I certainly did not try to tell you the Sachs would do everything. I know I said there was no experience using it for sled pulls. You probably have to slip your clutch a lot with only 275 hp to get going and up to the speed dictated by the (5 speed) transmission gear you have selected. That in itself probably abuses the clutch to the point that the flywheel and pressure plate are scored and the friction pucks are heat-cracked. Given what you have said about your usage, I recommend you remove the Sachs clutch at once and select something more suited to what you do with the truck. Medium and heavy duty trucks use those pucks for many, many miles but do not slip their clutches much at all. Again, if you want to send the clutch back, my clutch man will check it out. I told you that months ago also.

Clutch smoke?

How many folks smoked clutches? 5 maybe 6 or more? Gotta say I didn't see one DTT equiped truck smoke a clutch and they have let me see, 1st, 2nd and TC clutch, possibly more?

DTT's rule, over smoking clutches anyway!

This is all in fun as there was no MONEY up for grabs this year!

Flame on!

Joe,

I explained QUITE clearly what I wanted/needed your clutch to do.

(Remember the e-mail, Joe, chain your truck to your house and slip the clutch, then tell me how it works!

Gene, house is half way across the street, now what?)

You kept insisting it would work BECAUSE I had 275/300, instead of big numbers.

Remember the night I called and said DON"T SHIP IT!

If you were so worried about me having your clutch, I don't know why you spent at least 1 hour talking me back into it. Quota to meet or something, I guess.

Yup, my choice to try it, my right to let people know what it works like. If you go back over my reviews, you will see I was very forgiving in the beginning, and gave it a whole summer before I really said what I felt.

Should I just get a rental while you guys are "inspecting" my clutch?

I believe if you would have said,"DON"T sled pull with this clutch" I would have went elsewhere.

Admit it Joe, you wanted to see what would happen.

When someone on any Diesel site asks about clutch selection, how can I not tell them what my exprience is?

I have more good things to say out here about a lot of things than I complain about clutches. Sorry yours fit into the latter.

It makes no sense to take pucks off and continue to pull after reading your post, that is for sure.

I don't believe these Diesels turn enough r's to "AMPUTATE BODY PARTS" my Husky Liners are tough anyway!!!!!

Lets's just figure out a price for R&D on your clutch and call it square, eh?

Why are you and Peter wanting to talk about your clutch on this thread? I was just slamming you for being a watcher with all that hp. I heard HVAC was sitting too. I just can't believe it.

BTW,Are you still selling that clutch?

Gene

I was just standing by and reading this post as it grew. I haven't been on the TDR or Diesel Central much due to work constraints so have no bias due to the other posts that keep being brought up. But Gene this statement shows a HUGE lack of experiance in this subject. . It is just this kind of thinking that SCARES the $%#^@ out of the Clutch manufacturers that are kinda sticking there necks out even being at a pulling event.

Enough already!!!!!!!!

Gentlemen... ... .....

MGM - Gene

South Bend Clutch - Peter

Joseph Donnelly... ... ... ... ... ... ... .....

Please genlemen, enough of the clutch ordeal.....

If you wish to continue to somewhat hammer at each other... find another thread to do so. You are using the Showdown thread to dicuss an issue that can be handled over the phone direct.

What started out as a fun event will and should continue as a fun event. Enough already. Stop please. Or as is another language. No mas.

Start your own thread and continue on but enough on this one.

Thank you everyone in attendance for your support and thank you to all donors of door prizes.

We will get back and post the finals as soon as we catch up.

Have a good day.
