Just had to vent my enthusiasm, can't wait until this weekend. We got the new SBC in my buddies HO, I got my auxilary pusher pump from Enterprise, lets get on with this already.

While I'm talking about Tulare, I have a quick question about sled pulling. I'm thinking about taking a shot at it for the first time this weekend. I was wondering about gear selection. I know I have heard people say 2nd low, maybe first high or 3rd low. I was wondering what you veterans would recommend for me. I know the way your rig is set up has a lot to do with it - so, I'll tell you what I have and let me know what you think.

2000, 2500,4wd, QC, lwb, 6spd, 4. 10 gears, 255/85 Dunlop radial Rover A/T tires(almost 33"), 275 injectors, EZ Box, 0880, 4 inch exhaust, and a stock clutch with 50,000 on it. The clutch is stock, but it seems to be a little tougher than the HO clutches, and I've never hurt it up to this point. So, any suggestions? I would like to think I could pull 3rd low with the 4. 10 rearend, but maybe that is a little optomistic - 2nd low sure is slow though.

Hopefully Adam, or sutton or one of you others could chime in here. Thanks in advance

Gearying

Craig,

I think your best gears are 3low or 2hi. Make a mistake and your clutch is toast:)

I hope you take a turn at the sled for your own enjoyment. Hope you don't explode with anticipation in the mean time!:D

Driving Directions
The showgrounds are located just off Highway 99 in Tulare, midway between Fresno and Bakersfield. Traveling north on Highway 99, exit Avenue 184 or Avenue 200 and follow the signs. Traveling south on 99, exit at Paige Avenue or Avenue 200. Roads leading into the Farm Show grounds can be congested after 8 a. m. , particularly Tuesday and Wednesday. Traveling from central and eastern Tulare County, use the new Turner Drive entrances.

Doug.

Edited this post, Thanks Gary!

Gary I Thought there was going to be sheep there?. No Farm Show this weekend?. Damnit. I thought I could find a date there, You know what they say about Navy Boys:D. LOL.

Thanks for Correcting the Info. I went back and Edited it.

HVAC and willyslover, don't know if I can hold out until Saturday. With the 2 miles or so of dirt road leading to my house, I have plenty of opportunity to practice those 3rd gear launches - not very effective I imagine with no sled hooked hooked up. Maybe I'll chain up my I beam drag that I use to grade my road. Oh, this is getting rediculous, I'll see you guys Saturday mornig. Thanks for the pointers HVAC, just don' like that part about tearing up the clutch with one mistake!

BOMBvoyage.

Tomorrows the BIG Day!

Spent 8hr's yesterday cleaning, polishing and waxing the truck,Just have to vacuum out the bed and cab, And clean the winders. And I'm done!, Oh and I polished the Eagle 589's Whew.
Doug.

Can't wait to see the latest setup HVAC. I never got to see your original twin setup - I couldn't make it to May Madness last year. So, did you get some tires for sled draggin'? That would be a sight to see. This should be fun, see you guys in the morning.

Hey HDH, I remember those days of constant washing, poishing, buffing, scrubbing etc. Ever since I moved, I now have 2 miles of dirt road to get to my house - thats 4 miles a day of dirt roads. Needless to say, so much for the clean truck. It was hard at first, but I've learned to live with it. Enough of that, see you guys in a bit.

P. S.
