Papaw started slipping today. Looks like it is time to replace the torque converter and trans.

I am looking for advice based upon other members' experience.

I use the truck to tow an enclosed trailer weighing about 6000# within about 150 miles of home. I'm in the appalachian mountains so there are plenty of hills to climb. The truck is the company workhorse, so regardless to say it needs to be ultra-reliable.

Any advice would definitely help.

If Bing maps is correct, you are out not to far from Chattanooga. Run on down to Griffin Ga or give Garmons Diesel a call. They build a mean unit and are relatively local to you.

Thanks cerb. That's just what I did. I did a lot of research here on the TDR and a few other places and it seems like Jeff comes highly regarded. I talked to him this morning and he definitely knows his stuff, so he has started building a tow package transmission and converter for me, complete with the triple disc converter. Now all I need to do is figure out if and how I can get the truck to him, or will I have to let my boys at RPM OffRoad handle the dirty work...
