FASS install questions.

FASS, what is it?

OK here is the report of the install!!! The 4" system is in and sounds great! I went from a stock 3" straight piped system to this 4" with a straight thru 4" in 4" out 30" muffler.

The 30" muffler with the hanger kit that comes with the system works wonderful.

With the way the down pipe is bent. . it gives you plenty of room between the frame and the bell housing and also it gives you more clearance between the down pipe and the firewall.

As far as the dreaded drone at 2000 rpms... there is NONE! Would I buy another system from Big Exhaust... just as quick as I could pick up the phone... .

I cant say what the install is on the 5" but the 4" was a cake walk. I did grind off the tailpipe hanger and mounted it to the new system then I installed my chrome turndown. .

When I get to work tomorrow I will post the pictures in the "Reader Rigs' so that all can take a look at it.

Any questions... I will try to answer them. .

Glad to hear the install is done and product is good. Looks promising. Thanks for the report out.

Casey,

The shipping was $50

mike,

I didn't try the baffled muffler. . it was a different length so when I cut the straight section of pipe it would not have worked for the straight muffler.

I need to back up a little... this system is a 16 guage system!!!

But of what I have seen... it is a clean system. I did test the 2000 rpm drone and I got none! You are getting your moneys worth with this kit! Like I said in my earlier post. . the muffler will hang where the stock muffler hangs. The hangers are welded up when you get them but they work with the stock rubber bushings. They also send a rod to slip in the transmission mount which I elected not to install.

The system sounds so sweet compared to the straight pipe that I ran for over 2 years.

Count me in for a 4" with straight through muffler please.

Let me know. When and where $$.

16 gauge works for me.

DC Miller

Marbleman

The straight thru muffler really cuts the sound down from the straight 3". Make sure when you order the system. . let them know that you want the straight thru muffler.

Here is the numbers off the end of the box for the straight thru muffler...

3887 Heavy Duty Muffler

This muffler is approx 30"... with 4" in 4" out and about 8" diameter.

Interesting the 4" is 16 gauge. I was assured the 5" is 14. I will definately clarify next time I talk to them.

This group purchase is for a 5". I have not dicussed with the supplier if we can split the group purchase with some 4" and 5". I will ask if this is an interest.

Is there any possibility of retaining the spare with a 5" system? I was just told that the spare is gonna have to ride elsewhere with a 5" system.

You might check on splitting up the group purchase with 4 and 5- I think there might be some interest in it.

Who told you the spare would not fit?

Two guys at a local Exhaust shop told me that the 5" systems dont allow enough room to pass the spare. I don't know what system he was referring to that wouldn't fit (he says they tried it about a month ago)- only that it would not fit.

I am hoping he is full of BS and that it won't be an issue. Someone set the record straight. I know it's pretty tight up there- mine is tight already with my Hy-Tek cover, but if it won't fit with a 5" system it could be the dealbreaker for some, myself included.

Hmm... another question I will pose to the manufacturer.
