2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 5 Speed to Auto Conversion

I am considering swapping my 4500 to either a DTT or ATS transmission for racing . After talking to Stephan at DTT, it seems to run one of their trannys I would have to swap the ECM and PCM along with a new steering column if the job is to be done correctly and a transmission cooler.

I also talked to Joel at ATS. They have a stand alone 4 and 5 speed auto, that needs nothing more than their controller to operate. No new PCM or ECM.

Would anyone out there know where I would find a steering column for an auto? I am considering a PermaCool transmission cooler. Any opinions on this? What else might have to be changed?

When I needed a Driver's side door, I checked some truck yards, and I found about five 2nd Gen's at one yard alone. Most had banged-up doors--so I ended up not buying one there, but as I recall they all had intact steering columns, although some had front end damage.



I would start by calling some truck yards. A steering column can be shipped pretty easily too, as it's not too big.



And I'd vote a big 10-4 on the ATS. I am running their Trans and Controller, and both work flawlessly!
