Wow, this has really done it. .

Remember the ball that dropped in Times Square the other night? Well the bulbs are auctioned off for new LED techonogy next year... It is on ebay right now

Bulbs are sold as individuals in a box with a cert of auth. Well, now sure for charity and pride of owning another light bulb to sit around and collect dust, i'd pay maybe 20 bucks... That is on a very giving day. But right now we have almost 30 idiots on ebay bidding a light bulb up to 500 bucks. Wow, I didnt know people were that mindless. Spend 500 bucks on something useful. Go plant some trees or finish a home project or fix your vehicle. .

Well, maybe if you run out of bulbs at home you can always use this one. just dont look at it, you might get blinded. :-laf

Metal halide lamps for (LCD, DLP) projectors and projection TVs routinely run $300+. With a ~2500hr life span, relamping these can get pricey.

Has anyone ever priced re-lamping a car with OEM HIDs?

The retrofit kits are/were dropping in price, but I was wondering how much you'd get raked over the coals if you had to re-lamp an OEM application...

We used to have to buy specialty lightbulbs for microfilm production - some of them were pretty spendy - though I don't remember any being $500.

Relamping an LED car would be pricey I bet. LED's are pretty much a waste of money. There is no need for them.

Could you qualify that statement a bit? Since when is heating up a strand of tungsten to produce visible light a better solution than an LED?
