Need help!

Stanadyne fuel addative

Briefly stating my experience:

Stock fluid: Shifted fair

Amsoil 5W30: Shifted good

Redline MTL: Shifts great

The stock fluid was very nasty when I drained it at 50K which was far too long to leave it alone. Ran about 30K with the Amsoil 5W30 and it came out much much clearer. Now with the Redline it shifts a lot nicer than it ever has and that's what I'm stickin' with :)

I am sorry to announce that we will no longer allow any members to use any gear lube other than the OEM gear lube in your NV5600's. If anything but OEM gear lube is detected in your transmission or on your breath you will be forced to sell your CTD and buy a gasser. You have been warned :-{} :-laf

forced to sell

Well they are coming up the driveway now: . . forced to sell, well it's been fun. . . It's driving a gasser from now on I guess, whew boy! Had to spout off, my fault.

I love these oil wars, er... I mean discussions :D :D :D :D :D :D

You guys know that Lubrication Engineers makes the best oil right?

Dane, I think a lot of folks get involved in these oil wars just for an excuse to argue when in reality they just use whatever oil the Jiffy-Lube supplies.

Wait this is unfair!!! You mean your local Jiffy-Lube supplies your oil  My local Jiffy-Lube has been charging me for that oil :( Now they aren't chargin a lot, since its been drained from gassers, but the Jiffy-Lube manager told me personal that it was perfect for my CTD :) He said it had the same properties as that synthetic oil that all them race drivers use.

After something like 6 months of reading about this oil controversy... or war... I decided to break down and go with royal purple synchromax. I am very pleased so far, cold weather driving shifts very smooth. I put it in both the t case and the transmission. And yes, i made a mess... my little plan i had went to hell and i got it everywhere anyways.

I guess I am going to have to straighten you guys out on transmission lube. All of you are using substandard and inferior trans. lube.

It is a little bit messy and cumbersome but I spoon in 8¾ pints of "Homer's Duck Butter"®. You will not believe how loose and smooth the that NV5600 will shift after about 50 miles.

"Homer's Duck Butter"® actually exceed DC's MS 9224 specification requirements and cross references over to Mopar Part # 4761526 and 4874464!

I'll give you guys a secret tip on how to spoon in those 8¾ pints. You get one of those battery powered cookie guns that resembles a cauking gun out of the wife's kitchen and spoon in the "Duck Butter"®... ... ..... Don't let her catch you!!!!!!!!! They get REALLY upset and start thowing things and cussing you! Just put the cookie gun tip up to the trans plug hole and pull the trigger.

Stay tuned for my block of insturction on servicing the differentials and transfer case with "Homers Duck Butter"®. ;) ;) ;)

Hey...

This thread should be able to get a nomination for some type of sitcom award:p

I laughed harder here then on Tuesday nights comedy sitcoms. :D

I have a saying...

"Ignorance and arrogance plays an important part of alot of peoples lives. "

Not trying to offend anyone here, but think about it.

This site is to help people out, not offend them, try to keep it cool and stick to the Q's on hand.

Do your homework if you plan to stray from manufacturers recommendations. And you have no one but Dodge or yourself to blame.

Great site!

Just changed mine @ 65k to Royal Purple. Found it online at at half the price NAPA wanted. Stock fluid didn't look too bad (I could still see through it as it drained) and there was minimal metal mud on the magnet. Put 100 miles on her so far, and it didn't grenade :)

I would rather blame Dodge while I am under warranty. After that I am willing to blame you guys :-laf

Love these oil wars... .

Guess I'm in a class of my own...

I run:

Valvoline in the engine

Amsoil in the Steering

Royal Purple in the Axles

Redline in the transfer case

oh and OEM Specs in the 5600.....

Everyone has their own opinion of what works

and what does not, this combination works great

for me at a GCVW in excess of 24,000 lbs...

why do I run the OEM Specs in the NV-5600... .

because I called and email New Venture and specifically

asked about Amsoil, RP and Redline... they strongly advised

running the OEM stuff, I bought a 5 gallon bucket and change

the fluid every 20,000 miles it is what works for me but

to each his or her own.....

Let the wars continue...

Matt
