I am looking for a new fiver hitch. I have been looking at the B&W hitch that drops down into bed when you pull the handle, then pops back up when you need it . Any experience with this hitch? suggestions? I am pulling a 20' fiver at around 8-10,000# trailer weight, (featherlite 4 horse slant load) thanx for any help in advance.

Paycheck. The B&W hitch is a 5th wheel hitch and a goose neck hitch. The 5th wheel hitch is a two piece hitch that mounts on a shaft that fits down in to the bed that is attached via a pin. All this can be removed in 5 minutes and a ball shaft inserted to accomodate a gooseneck unit. I have one and like it very much altho I have not had the occasion to pull a gooseneck.

I purchase a valley hitch. It comes with a rail kit that you mount in the bed to the frame. I have a gooseneck platform which is held in with four pins. (can be removed in about 1min. ) I then purchased a used fifth wheel head assembly that drops down into slots next to the gooseneck platform. (can be installed or removed in 1min). I can leave the gooseneck platform on and the fifth wheel sits over the top. Pull the fifth wheel off and use the gooseneck. I like the versitility. Hope this isnt confusing. :D

I would suggest to get a hitch that tilts side to side. It'll save you tons of grief hooking up on un-even ground. :)

Thanx for all the help! Yes i pull a 'gooseneck' horse trailer. the b&w converts for both 5er and gosseneck. I wen't with Cody brand hitch,it also works for both hitches. it is rated a 35000 gross. thanx.
