Do ya need it moved!!

Well as many local TDR friends know I live in my 33' 5th wheel and well after 3 years the carpet is showing it. I have been offered free carpet remnants out of house carpeting project and it is very high end carpet. Has anyone evr done this in their fifth wheel? The question sI have are the following...

I have 3 slideouts - is there any paricular height that will interfere with slideouts and cause damage to the carpet?

Can I use padding? - Also I am being offered the padding is there any reason with the slidouts that I cannot use padding sure would be nice for the feet and some insulating value...

How to carpet under the slidouts? - Do you jack up the slides or?

Also has anyone come up with a good solution to wear problems on the steps into the upper area? Mine has taken a tremendous beating on the edges in the entry area and into the bedrrom area.

I have a friend who lays carpet and said he would help but he has never done it in a trailer with slideouts so we want to make the right choices so if anyone has done this please chime in.

Thanks for everyones ideas and help I don't want to pass up the free carpet as I am on a limited 0$ budget and it is the right color...

We are in the same situation as you. We would like to recarpet our 5th wheel as well. I posted these same questions over a IRV2.com. A feela over there said to remove the trim around the slide, and it will go further out past the wall to enable you install the carpet on the floor under the slide, and to carpet the slide it's self. It wraps around under neath. I am in the prossess of checking with a company now, i will let you know how i make out.

That sounds great I was told once by the manufacturer in a casual conversation that you can actually lift the slide out with a jack on the 3 support arms and it will lift a couple of inches. I am realy only worries about 2 of the 3 slides as the big slide is a flush floor type and goes up significantly higher when it comes up but the other 2 do not raise at all so that is where my concern is in regards to dragging the slide on the carpet with the additional height of the padding and better quality carpet. Thanks again hopefully this will work out as well as I hope last thing I need is it ro rip the carpet pulling the slides in...

MCrossley, how did the recarpet make out? We are still a little hesetent on doing this job, and i wondered if you had done and how well it turned out and if you were happy with it. I guess i'm waiting for another guinee pig.
