5th wheel tailgate questions

Well,,, now that my tailgate is hammered I am thinking about getting a 5th wheel tailgate.



Only problem is I cant decied on whos product to go with.

What are you opinions?



I also do not want to break the bank

You might like to look at Blackhawk Manufacturing's Doublegate.



They have both a slotted and a solid version as well as one that's more conventional in appearance.

Handy

I got lucky and found a Handy slotted 5th wheel tailgate used for $125. That's about half discount retail. It's all steel, powder coated black and does not come with tailgate straps. Keep your stock straps! I made a set from coated wire cable. Note, they are left and right, not identical. The dealer wants like $44 for these.



I stow my 5th wheel tailgate in the original box in the trailer since I don't tow too often and my lockable stock gate makes more sense with my tonneau cover. Takes about 5 minutes to swap them. It weighs about the same as the stock gate.



I feel better about having the v-notch gate when hitching. I was always paranoid that I'd forget to drop the other one.
