Hitch/Stab/Ball ratings?

anyone with experience with a duramax diesel

Just wondering what some of you have for total weight when loaded for a trip.

Weighed ours today, full load of water, 10 gals extra fuel and 3 of our big dogs

< 285 lbs worth> in the truck  plus the wife and I. 19,345.

Gezzz ,,, have to change my signature block as the truck has turned over to 61000 miles.

With mine loaded and have 70 gallons of extra cross bed Transfer Flow and 1/3 full 5er water tanks mine weights slightly more than 21,000 lbs.

4 people, 2 Dogs, 36' Toyhauler, with 1 toy in it, Have 76 gallons diesel on-board, 110 gal water, 34 gal Gas for the gen and toys, a 14' utility behind the Trailer with a Yamaha Rhino on it.

26,600 #!!!!! Dang!!!... ... ... . Still gets 10 MPG with that weight !

Trip weight

When travelling with the fifth wheel, I tip the scales at just very few pounds less than 20k. Mileage is 13-14 depending on if I can keep the speed down to something reasonable. I am going to try some silly-slow (for me) this coming trip, am going to try a tank at 55 and one at 60.

The scale slip is out in the truck, I'm in here, anyway the weight was just a shade over 20K with about 30 gallons of water.

Fully loaded I hover around 19K plus or minus but never been over 19K. Stopped weighing my truck unless significant changes were made. I'm with JCasper and avg around 11mpg. I don't how those other guys are getting that and pulling 10K or more:confused::rolleyes:

I'm lots more conservative than most of you guys - our 24 ft. Kit 5er, fully loaded, places us at 14,000 lbs GCW - and 1200 of that is pin weight, in addition to the 50 gallon tool/fuel box and other junk carried in the bed of the truck. The truck alone scales at 7000 lbs. less passengers and fuel. That puts us at, or slightly over the rated GVWR for my truck - sure wouldn't want any more load than that for "comfortable" travel and peace of mind... ;)

I have only a small 5ver and haven't had it on a scale yet but i'm guessing combined weight is around 14-15k.

Hey, I know where Irwin PA is, I used to live there with a batch of Nike Hercules missiles!

You might want to get a weigh job, otherwise you will never know the proper inflation of your tires when towing. .

I got you all beat on weight with a 5vr... I probably go just shy of 13k total... 4800# 5vr, maybe 8000# truck...

I didn't say it would be the biggest...

Yeah I need to get the combo weighed, will definately be doing it this summer.

That is cool, there are not too many people who know where/what the Nike site is.

Truck + fuel + me + wife and 2 young daughters and all their stuff + 5er + food + clothes + 2 small bikes + 1 small electric jeep + black water 1/2 full...

Truck = 9800 lbs (includes pin weight)

5er axles = 7900 lbs

Total = 17,700 lbs

Fuel economy between Portland and beach (coast range) = 11. 2mpg

Fuel economy between Portland and Kahneeta (Mt Hood) = 10. 6mpg

Fuel economy between Portland and Redwoods and back = 11mpg

They lie... :-laf

Hey, hey now, I resemble that remark!

I have no reason to lie, but let me give some of the differences some attention.

I carefully selected a truck with NO four wheel drive stuff to churn and carry around down the paved highway. I also selected carefully a truck with an overdrive automatic transmission with lock up torque converter, as well as 3:54 gearing. I did all that so I WOULD get some decent mileage, since that was going to be my main use of the truck. I cruise in the teens using the top part of the torque curve, and get decent mileage. It is not just me, I have the records of this truck since day one, previous owner did very well too.

Now on the other hand, the person that chooses the stump pulling gears that will burn rubber in all four wheels, and spends most of the time cruising along level highway with the poor Cummins screaming at high RPMs gets poorer mileage, gee, I wonder why?

I did not intend to chastise anybody for their choices, just pointing out some of the difference, and it is not all from telling lies. .

Fully loaded 27,130 and I get about 8 mpg. I have a Aero 60gal midship replacement tank, so my range loaded is 440 and empty is about 755.
