That's funny and sad. Pitifull comes to mind.

I agree. I would hope that Ford/Navistar would not be crazy enough to base their new engine off of the VT365. They are just asking for it at this point.

How about the guy that said he does not want an inline 6 because "he does not want his truck to sound like his neighbor's Dodge"!? Heck, at least his neighbor's Dodge HAS a sound, which means it is RUNNING!!!! Dam a 6 liter and dam a v-8 diesel! When are these arsewholes gonna ever learn? These companies (Isuzu and International) MAKE inline 6 engines thet MEET EPA specs in their medium trucks. They just want a "V-8" because it sonds "cool" to have a "V-8", nevermind durability or pulling power or simplicity! I am so GLAD to be a Dodge fan, because of the Cummins they run!

some people. at least they all realize there engines are crap. still devoted ford guys though. the v8 is nothing more than a selling point. helps dodge too when they can throw down better numbers with a strait 6.

i thought the fords were gonna have a VT style turbo, not twins.

This will be my last FORD truck. I have to say though my 99 SD with the 7. 3 has been the best truck that I have ever owned. PERIOD. Not one problem. I will hate to get rid of it when I buy the new dodge. Since I never owned a dodge do you spell cummins with a G or is it silent.

FMC has a problem and they feel that bringing a new engine to the market will help especially with the new emissions coming into play. Fix the problem and make it the best they have. Instead of another band-aid, stock crippling, ball dropping, piece of crap. This is from a loyal FORD fan

I hope the 6. 4 is the answer for Ford. The 6. 0 was a POS , I know, I owned one. Id like to see the 6. 4 come out off the line with minimal or no first year startup bugs and turn around the bad diesel rep. they've had for the last 4 long years. Everyone knows Ford builds the best truck, Only if they had a engine to go with it.

It's OK for Ford owners to spell it Cummings, but around here, we prefer Cummins. The "G" is so silent, it's not even visible.

I wasn't aware ford made the best truck, The PSD's that I have rode in that had any amount of mileage on them had a lot of rattles, The ford interior has always looked like a work truck to me, way too much plastic, there was a case to be made that the older dodges had small brakes and weak suspensions, but that has been corrected in recent models. The second gens used the same axles as ford, couple the cummins with an NV 5600, I don't see what aspect of the ford is so great

you need to see my rig. tons of the little crap on the inside(plastics) are broke. not worth the money to fix though. as far as looking like a work truck, come on. thats what there for, even if they dont work half the time.

Take a ride up to the 3rd gen forums. The trucks are still falling apart. Ball joints, U joints, ETC, lasting 30K. Cummins is the only thing Dodge has going for them. Now that Ford has the Bigger brakes, Highest towing Capacity, and coil front end they have everyone beat. Take a look at the diesel stop. There arent any truck complaints, there all engine related complaints. In the 3rd gen forum its all truck complaints. Pick the better of 2 evils I guess. Just what I've observed over the years. If a Ford came with a cummins Id be back in one within a week. especially if it were a 12V :)

I've heard people say it before, and I think it bears repeating: I'm actually glad Dodge is the lowest selling of the 3. I prefer to smugly enjoy my little "elite" group of Cummins owners. Just like I love telling people my truck is "only a 6-cylinder". ;)

Amen Brother!! Our shop uses only fords and chevys. I have two CTDs that I rub in their noses every chance I can get. Even the Owners Grandson Has a 99 and joined the TDR recently. He uses every opportunity to "Educate" his family whenever the other superior trucks disapoint.

Fewer Cyl's, Less Displacement. Better Mileage(Fuel and Reliable) More power. :-laf :-laf :-laf

I'm sure that you will really like a Dodge and in about 5 years you will say, man this Dodge is the best truck I have ever owned, period, not one problem.

"That thing got a Hemi in it? Na, it's just a little 6 cylinder. " :-laf

Then I go on to tell them what I tow with it. Then they ask, "isn't that a bit overloaded for a 6 cylinder?" Oo.

No Ford envy here. Since I've baiscally had no problems with my truck, I can't imagine how Ford could improve on it. They have nothing I'm really interested in. I want 4 real doors and an 8' bed, but don't want a truck the size of the Ford crew cab. I'll keep what I have thank you very much.

Well since Furd has the supposedly best suspension why not use the International inline 6. They have one that tips the scale at around 1200lbs give or take. Not much of a step up and they would have better power plant to boot.

Sure is sad that Furd keeps saddling thier customers with such a bad design that they just can't get right. Looks like the I6 from international could do alot better than the P. O. S V8.

I don't know what everyone thinks is so friggin great about furd trucks. Overall, engine excluded for this discussion, the furds are NO BETTER than Dodge as far as quality. They all have their flaws. I have a customer who has had both his 2003 7. 3L and 2004 6. ohhell in the shop multiple times. Both have had suspension and steering problems, brake problems and transmission problems. The 7. 3L has not had engine problems, but as you could guess, the 6. ohhell can't stay out of the shop for oil leak, reflash, injector, etc... ... problems.

I am currently at 40,000 miles on my '03 and have had no problems at all. Before this guy even had 5,000 on his, it was back in the shop and has just never been able to stay away from it since! Only reason I have more miles on my '03 (bought late in '03) than his '04 which he got about the same time is because his has not been able to be used as much due to being in the shop all the friggin time! His latest problem was a failed steering box.

Ford quality my arse! I prefer Dodge's suspension, axles (especially full time front on 4x4), transmission (6-speed), interior, sound system, seats, brakes, LOOKS, and of course ENGINE! I have NO reason to ever buy a furd, but the main reason I did buy my first Dodge (1993) was for the Cummins. If Dodge ever quits using the Cummins, then I may look at whoever starts using Cummins. Personally, I don't see that ever happening. The Cummins sells Dodge trucks.
