Did they try simply driving it with a scan tool (to monitor TCC status) to see whether the PCM is commanding the TCC to unlock (or, more likely, go to partial lock) during the shifts?

I don't know... . I don't know what's next... . What controls the shift pattern? Is it all in the ECU or does the transmission have its own CU? It's Larry Miller dodge in Surpise,Az doing the tech work...

In 2010+ trucks, the ECM and TCM are one combined unit (known as the PCM, although the actual hardware is supplied by Cummins and is similar to the ECMs on 2009 and earlier trucks). So basically, we added the TCM functions to the ECM.

With a scan tool, the dealer should be able to see what gear and TCC state the PCM is commanding. So you can see whether the PCM is changing from Full EMCC (full lockup) to Partial EMCC (partial lock) during the shifts.

I called the Dealer again today and the service guy handling it never returned the call. Customer service from Chrysler has now gotten involved. (they called about a unrelated issue and discovered this pending issue) They sounded very determined to make me happy with my purchase. . I explained my 15 year history of Ram truck purchases($200K worth) and had never experienced this. I explained I was not throwing anyone under the bus(except the dealer from my 2012 max tow purchase) and they( the repairing Dealer) seemed to be trying to fix the problem etc. . Maybe by weeks end I'll see some progress. . Fingers crossed. .

Got a call from the dealer. Apparently "CAC" Customer assistance center called them, thus they called me. I did not need that but I guess I'm stuck with them till its fixed. They dont do anything but apparently blow hot air into all parties ears etc. They(she) blew it into my ear. I asked them to drop out of the picture as the dealer was doing what they could to fix the transmission issue. They would have to close ALL the case, STAR etc(meaning trans fixed) or stay on board... So, they are on board now..... From what I gather, no one knows what to do. . As it was explained to me, the STAR system is tech help type deal... . No one has come up with anything other then change the valve body, and that did not do it either. Its still revving 3-500 rpm up after unlock from 4th, to 5th, and to 6th, to shift, then back to lock. Very noticeable gap in time before it catches the next gear and goes back to To lock. Never ever heard anything even remotely close to that with the 2012 68RFE shifting. Hopefully all goes well on the pull to Flagstaff Sunday with the 5th wheel.

Bug Out just becuase they can do it and so far nothing has been resolved, have them check the electronic fan clutch or swap it out. There have been a couple incidents where the fan clutch going bad has thrown enough noise back into the system that fuel maps and trans hsifting has been affected to varying degrees. It is a long shot as your symptoms don't really match others, but, an internally shorted fan clutch will shut the engine management completely down with some DTC's that are not really indicative of the problem. They will mess stuff with no DTC's also. Good luck with it. You have a head scratcher.
