Scored a Mopar 291AA fuel filter today I found on Craigslist for $25. The guy had just sold his truck and was selling all the maintenance items that went with the 6.7L. Knowing all the issues with counterfeit filters and such, I brought along an older new 291 (17194) to compare with. First two numbers are the year and the following three are the julian date and is the last line of engraved numbers on the top of the filter. Mine had the green inner screen and his was white (21194). So Cummins Filtration (aka Fleetguard) changed the screen color sometime in between. The inner bottom black piece will also have a julian date and is usually a few days off from the top date. Must be manufactured separately at different times/places? As a reminder; the FS53000 Fleetguard, Mopar M0-291 and the Chrysler filters are the same exact filter. Purchase which ever one is cheapest. All three can vary by more than $25.
