7 Dodge trucks in this family

Is there any other familys out there that have a small fleet of Dodge trucks? My 2 sisters 1 brother and I have 7 of them. They are all work trucks ( always have payload )and we are quite happy with them. 1-94 auto
2-95s 5 speed 1-97 5 speed & 3-2001s 6 speed. We have owned 11 in all. And have owned 3 or 4 others 2 1st gens and a 98. Other than 1 head gasket on a BOMBED truck one fuel selonoid and a couple of exaust gaskets the engines have been trouble free. The trucks have been very good and we are supprised with the quality of truck components. The 5 speed transmission has been a problem, throw out bearings and 5th gear retention nut failures. The hope is that the 2001s with the 6 speed will be much better?!! I am hopeing for some award from DC but I wont hold my breath. #ad

Well, Don't have that many Cummins diesels in the family, only 5, and only three of those are in DC's. The other two are in a CASE/INTERNATIONAL, and a Versatile loader. The loader has 20,000+ hours, no major problems w/ engine. On the DC side, well, we still have the heavy 3/4 ton '73 clubcab that used to haul 2+ ton of grain every week during the first fuel shortage. A 75 dually w/400 another brother uses to pull goosenecks, (it does the job just fine, and he can't afford a Diesel, unless somebody want's to donate a used truck to the cause!). Another brother has one of Dad's old 1/2 ton w/ 318, as well as my '95 Diesel(106k when I sold it to him, still looks like new). The third brother has the '82 w/225 slant six 1/2 ton. The fourth brother has a 1st gen diesel, and two Caravans. And Dad has a 96 1/2 ton w/ 318. Between my father and siblings, we own 8 Caravans, as well as quite a few other DC cars. Just to be fair, there is a Cadilac, a rice burner, and even an F*** vehicle that show up at family reunions. Dad drove Chevies for years, until the mid-sixties when he got a lemon. Bought a Dodge, and everyone in my family has had good luck with them so far. Thirty five years of an outstanding driving experience with Dodges, though there have been a smattering of used F***s in that time.
I guess you could say that I am one who bought the Dodge and got the Cummins as the best bonus ever. I don't understand why anyone would ever put up with a company they can't stand. There is too much competition in the market, and so if, as some of the posts I've read suggest, DC has done them wrong, NEVER purchase another. Yes, I do realize that there are agrivating, but not major, problems with vehicles that even I gripe about. But, if I am ever truly mistreated by DC, I will switch to another brand and never look back, as life is just too short to waste time hating a company. #ad

I have three trucks in my immediate family. My wife drives a 98 gasser extended cab 360, my son a '94 diesel, and I drive a '96 diesel.
The two diesels share time pulling one of three trailers. I usually pull a 32' 5th wheel. My son pulls a 26' gooseneck with a mowing tractor on it. We share time on a 16' lowboy for small tractor and assorted junk.
Red 96, white 94, and blue 98... ... ... the All-American Family!!!!!

As I stated in the original post we have 7 diesel Dodges in my family. There is also a 71 440 powerwagon and a 2000 2500 gasser so that makes 9 of them. The diesels have been trouble free and being a diesel mechanic that is very important. I have seen more than enough V8 diesel problems. (Not just powerstroke) Over the years all of the Major engine manufactures have had V8 engeneering fiascos. To name a few Cummins 555 (no torque, throw away engine) Cat 3208 the same even with the turbo it wouldnt hold a candle to a good I6 with 100 fewer CI. John deere, The big V8 in there 8850 articulated tractors is a low torque short lived engine (they no longer manufacture) went to a big I6. International harvester 444 dv550 and the dvt 800. All with the same history. Not to mention Detroit diesel 318 or there other V engines . The only stand out that comes close may be Macks big V8. The history is all there, the customer has to do the checking and make the decision. Have we had a few problems with transmissions YES. have we had chassies problems No. Have we had Cummins problems NO!! We have put serious miles on our trucks and we have considered other light and medium duty truck options. For right now I dont feel there is a better choice than Dodge Cummins.
