Electric Fuel Pressure Gauge

? about EGT TC install

This is probably more related to the 3rd Gens however I think the the filter is the same from 2000-early 2007. Friend was at Cummins NW. CNW claimed to have received a memo stating the 7micron rubber gasket is not compatible with bio-diesel. I haven't seen an actual statement from Cummins. If you're running bio call Cummins to verify. The 10micron is safe for continued bio use.

Why only the 7 micron? Are we speaking of Fleetguard? or all 7 micron. I just bought 7 micron Wix and will be using some bio in the near future...

What is the Wix number for that filter. My parts guy tells me he does not have a number for it and orders one in from Mopar for me.

Thanks.

The information received only deals with the Fleetguard. Is the Wix actually made by Wix or is it rebadged?

This appears to be a little confusing , 7 micron , 10 micron , rubber ?
The micron is a rating of size , not an object , bio- diesel affects rubber , that is known by most that use bio-diesel .

33585XE is the #, XE denotes the higher efficiency filter. I ordered from rockauto.com, $47 delivered for 3 filters. Not bad! I got them to have in the truck for when I start running some bio, anticipating some filter changes. I hadn't opened a box yet but am now. Inside box it is wrapped in shrinkwrap like the Fleetguard, looks like the Fleetguard, but can't tell you who made it for sure.

I just looked up these filters, the Fleetguard 7 micron is using their synthetic media, the 10 micron Wix(33585) uses paper, and the 7 micron Wix (33585XE) uses microglass. So it looks like it is not Fleetguard making the Wix filter.

JFAUGHN, what he was referring to about the 7 micron vs 10 micron filters, is that they may be packaging the 7 micron filter with a rubber gasket that is not compatible w/bio, versus the 10 micron which probably uses a synthetic rubber not susceptible the the bios solvent properties. I use the terms "may" and "probably" because this thread was started w/o any actual announcement, and just trying to be proactive to prevent any possible problems that can arise from the use of biodiesel.

I wasn't trying to confuse anyone. Just trying to pass on information. I didn't specifically state Fleetguard filters in the first post but, did mention it was purchased at Cummins Northwest. There have been so many threads on the TDR 3rd Gen area concerning the difference between the Fleetguard 7 micron filter and 10micron filter I didn't see a need to say they are actually different filters. My information only deals with the gasket that's supplied with the 7micron filter. I asked earlier about the Wix 7micron actual manufacturer because of an article that appeared in an earlier TDR. The article touched base on Fram not being made to meet or exceed OEM specification. The article also mentioned some manufacturers will buy filters from the competition that also meet or exceed OEM specification. According to the article it's not necessary for every manufacturer to make every product line on the market.

It was mentioned earlier the Fleetguard 7micron filter was of a different manufacturer design than the Fleetguard 10micron filter. I remember it had to do with an updated glue/epoxy. Again, this was only an FYI on my part as to the incompatibility of the 7micron filter rubber gasket and Bio. It's very possible one or more people using the 2000-2006 filter will run Bio at some time. I don't recall seeing any information about this on the TDR.
