19.5 8 lug steel ?

Any benefit to swapping 91 injectors into a 92?

Tank- There is one section (I would guess where 1st or 2nd gear goes on the shaft) that is 5" in diameter, but the main part of the main shaft is only about 1-1/2 to 2in thick.

Bill- Oh I aint gonna get in the middle of your feud. Your mouth runneth over at times. ;) :-laf What is it with you and guys from the Left Coast?

funny gilbert

daniel, i drove the main shaft to my transmission guy

so i know how big it is

(had to rent a trailer to haul the darn thing up there)

lol

paid thru the nose for that thing, but that wasnt the first part for this truck that was way over priced, prolly wont be the last.

can i prove it is billet?

not really

working on a billet transmission right now. (part billet/part forged)

here are two gears, which is billet and which isnt?

than all she needs to do is get the split nut, clean everything with brake clean, and crank and loctite the crud out of it

i really dont think the fully splined output and matching 5th gear is necessary

what ever you do dont tack the stock nut on with a tig welder

the heat will change the hardness of the shaft and it will eventually break

good luck and i hope it is a 2wd cuz if so pc of cake

i dont remember

tried calling around and no one says they have them now

it had been hardened, was not gold like the gear above tho

like i said above - i dont thing you need one. yea, the fully splined gear is nice; but i didnt spin the gear, the nut just kept coming off...

I would inspect the threads where the nut goes. I've heard that the threads will get beat up with a loose nut and 5th gear moving around, and even if you get a new nut, the shaft is beat up enough for the threads engage will enough to not hold the nut.

I would venture to say that your's will last Don, because you do not tow in OD. You use your GV for overdrive. I/We tow in OD with 3. 55's so we are probably more hard on our manuals then most of the diesel trucks in the population.

my 38. 5's were over 38" tall

the bfg 35's only measure 34" so now 1800 is only 56mph in 4th over, 61 in straight 5th with the 4. 10 gearing

so now lately i actually have been using 5th while towing

once i get all the new parts working correctly (turbo, injectors, pump, water) i dont know what i am gonna end up doing - maybe put some 3. 55's in it?

By the way she says theres a tag on it that says "use only GM part#xxxxx gear oil" so I assume it came from a GM truck origanally. does that matter?

i doubt it is from a gm, unless the transfer case is too...

the split nut - i would start calling everyone that sells the fully splined shaft/gear kit and tell them you just need the nut

i wish i would have done that but didnt even know there was a split nut when i welded mine on

don

ps - i drove mine for many miles towing with the the nut and gear floppin around in there and my threads were fine...

GM's never used the big input. I've seen a bunch of them in Dodges with the GM tag. No big deal.

It doesn't matter what nut you put on there if the gear is loose on the splines, it will loosen up again in short order.

well, the nut is less than 30 bucks and easy to get to so to me it would be worth a try...

call US gear in texas - i think they will sell you a split nut
