I just bought A 1994 3500 4x4 dump truck. It is an auto and runs great! Problem is I can seem to get it into 4Low. . I have tried and so have others? I remember a friends truck that was a 3500 gas 1996 year had the same problem. What should I look for? Please advise as I would love to use 4 low moving in the woods.

Thanks!

You might try putting the truck on jack stands so all four wheels are off the ground. Disconnect the shift linkage and see if you can get it in 4low by moving the lever on the T-case by hand. If that works then adjust the linkage rod.

Yooper1, making sure you are following procedures.

From 96 owner's manual; Truck has to be going under 3 mph. On automatics they must be in neutral. Shift transfer case lever to the right and pull firmly down to 4L. (This has to be done on one motion. )

"Pausing in transfer case neutral in vehicles with automatic trans may require shutting the engine off to avoid gear clash while completing shift. "

Will it go into neutral? Grind on low but not go in? Please be more specific as to what it is doing.
