My '97 dually has 12 1/2 inch disk (disc?) brakes on the front. later Dodge duallys have 13. 89 diameter disks. I believe the limitation against larger diameter brakes is the wheel size. There is very little clearance from the calipers to the 16 inch wheels. I have replaced the original 16 inch wheels with 17 inch and would like to increase the front brake capability.

I ran searchs through the TDR forums, could find no mention of this.

Has anyone done this or are what ideas are out there?

BTW, the rear brake drums had minimal clearance with the original 16 inchers. Now there is plenty of ventilation space. I might even consider a rear drum to disk conversion. In the meantime I'm installing larger wheel cylinders. In 122,000 miles I'm on the third set of front pads, still have the original rear shoes.

Thanks.
