last night coolant level low & truck over heat, just as pull into drive way, check guages light came on - this morning slow to start - but crank & run good - drive 20 miles & switch off truck - when attempt to crank truck ( 15 mins later ) slow start speed - attempt to jump off - starter spinning ok & still no start - check DTC`s W/Smarty ( p0602 - ECM fueling calibration error & p0217 decreased engine performance due to engine overheat condition ) cleared DTC codes & truck still not start - what do i need to check for next - thanks in advance, for all help

I would say start with the basics: make sure you have fuel to the VP44, if you do make sure you are getting fuel to the injectors. The P0602 has me worried... :{

That's usually sign of a faulty board, and they will leave you DOA...

Also, make sure your batteries are fully charged; low batteries can cause numerous types of problems when the voltage is too low for the electronics.

p0602 - ECM fueling calibration error
According to the Dodge Diagnostic Manuals, when you get that particular code, you replace the ECM... period! There are no other checks to perform or any work arounds.

Sorry for the bad news...

I went & tow truck home, try to start again , still turning over slow , hooked on to truck to tow home , decided to try to pull start truck, engine fired after turn over about three times, low fuel press light off & truck running smooth , drive truck back home , & starting ok now - still dont know what caused the non start problem , just thinking might have fuel suction line leak, as drove down very rough dirt road before no start , I found info that the smarty leaves the P0602 on ECM due to its fueling program .

Sounds to me like you have some sort of electrical issue. I would say either poor connections at the batteries, bad grounds or corrosion in some of the connectors. I would check them out as it will likely leave you stranded again if you don't get it figured out... :{

I second the batteries/electrical issues. Your describing (slow turning over) as a bad battery(s) and/or a bad connection (corrosion or loose ground). I'd start by cleaning and tightening my battery connections and making sure my battery(s) are fully charged.

Good Luck.
