I have had the dodge house trouble shoot an a/c leak and they have found it to be the evap core. So now with that said I was quoted 1200 bucks, ive read a post named "heater core saga" and that pertained to the heater core but mine is the evap core same area to get to it. Im told about 6-7 hrs to get the job done. Is it worth the hasle and any pointers. Im told and read a lil, that the front seats being removed make it easier... . Also with the heater core being in the same box im leaning towards replacing that too since its apart. Any seals that I need for hose connections etc. I could really save some money of I do it. They quoted me 345 for a evaporator core and I dunno what a heater core runs.

Thanx

Genos now have both for considerably less. The 1st time I did the job, it took about 6 hrs. I just had to replace my heater core late last year and the dash part of the job only took about 3 hrs. Don't laugh but the part that would seemingly be the easiest to conquer is the same exact step that I always mess up on..... be very careful when dropping the steering column so as not to break the delicate gear pointer. I just saw that you have a 6spd so you don't have to worry about it. Oh... . and don't forget the little vacuum plug under the center of the dash! Just get the book... . don't be in a rush and allow all day and you will be fine. Many times frustration comes from THINKING a job is not all that bad and SHOULDN'T take this long but it DOES! I have found that if you allow yourself ample time and remain calm, this job goes very well.

Alan,

thats awesome, thanx for reminding me about Genos, i totally forgot about them Because the evap core is 345 and the heater core in 175 from the dodge house. I believe u might of answered this question but i want to make sure my theory is correct, whats the reason for dropping the column?? i seen that in another thread and i figure its for clearance to get the dash piece out??? Also whats the deal with the vaccum plug, im guessing it wud be advised to replace it while i have it apart or just dont forget to put it back in is what u mean??? I do have a dealership Disassembly and Assembly manual so i will make good use out of it for this job. How do the connection for the evap core come apart?? Are they threaded connection with an o-ring or do i need a specific tool??

Also i see that you have a FS2500 oil filtration set-up, is it a good investment, does it actually remove alot of the carbon deposits, and how much are they??? I see you have an 01 so i was wondering if you might have any idea where i could get an electric mirror switch and knob. I dont have electric mirrors i only have the manuel tow mirrirs and i want to upgrade to the heated electric. I have checkd the door panels and i DO have the wiring harness for the upgrade. It wud be basically a plug-N-play job. Im having issues finding a company that offers the switch and knob for the selection of the mirror i want to adjust. its discontinued from dodge. Ive tried LMC truck and they dont offer it for my year model.

thanx

The column needs to be dropped to clearance the dash as it is slid out to the passenger side..... at that point, I just bungeed the dash to the passenger seat. The vacuum plug is for the climate control... . it just needs to be disconnected in order to pull the dash back.

As far as the FS2500... . I installed that yrs ago to counter the added fuel from the injectors in an effort to reduce the soot in my crankcase. I basically use it to increase the intervals of changing oil..... sometimes I go as high 15k miles but never over 8 mos.

Sorry, can't help with the mirrors.
