Martin Savidge of CNN, embedded with the 1st Marine battalion, was talking with 4 young marines near his foxhole this morning live on CNN. He had been telling the story of how well the marines had been looking out for and taking care of him since the war started. He went on to tell about the many hardships the marines had endured since the war began and how they all look

after one another. He turned to the four and said he had cleared it with their commanders and they could use his video phone to call home. The 19 year old marine next to him asked Martin if he would allow his platoon sergeant to use his call to call his pregnant wife back home whom he had not been able to talk to in

three months. A stunned Savidge, visibly moved by the request, nodded his head and the young marine ran off to get the sergeant. Savidge recovered after a few seconds and turned back to the three young marines still sitting with him and asked which one of them would like to call home first, the marine closest to him responded with out a moment's hesitation " Sir, if it is all the same to you we would like to call the parents of a buddy of ours, Lance Cpl Brian Buesing of Cedar Key, Florida who was killed on 3-23-03 near Nasiriya to see how they are doing".

At that Martin Savidge totally broke down and was unable to speak. All he could get out before signing off was "Where do they get young men like this?".

It's the selfless young people like these Marines of this country that make it great!

I hope this war will be finished soon, we need more people like this here for our future.

God bless our troops...

The glue

This is the glue that holds a unit together, the sacrifice that makes a fighting unit one, and the special friendship that comes with combat units. It has been in existance since the first soldiers grabbed their spears/clubs and faced a foe together. Semper Fi young men, Semper fi!

Thinking about this for a few days, I'm not surprised by any of this. Marines know the value of a 'buddy'. And when they lose a buddy, they want the parents to know he was a good Marine.

As to Savidge, considering the selfish, holier-than-thou left-wing radicals who make up 90% of the news media today, his response was at least half-act. The rest was carefully suppressed incredulity that, depsite the best efforts of the news media and the socialists, there are still some selfless people in the US.

A responsible reporter would have known that, in addition to waging war, that is what Marines do.

Good analysis, I think you are right.

This really IS a great story, but I think I will opt to accept the sentiment Savidge expressed during this report as whole-heartedly sincere; everyone gets a wake-up call sometime.

It is sad to think that the liberal media actually gives "air-time" to those who will make claims that our Marines and Soldiers are purposefully shooting/killing Iraqi women and children, but rarely give this sort of insight to the lives and humanity of our brave protectors of freedom.

Ooh Rah! Semper Fi to the Marines over there doing what some over here are unwilling to do.

I know what you mean about slanted. One of the networks has a good looking broad reporting from Jordan and now she has moved into Baghdad. Laura (something) Good looking brunette :) Every story I have seen her file has been slanted to the poor citizen that are being injured and killed or she slants it to how all Arabs hate us for an unjust war. I don't see how she stays on the air with this major network? Or maybe I do "see" how she stay on the air :D

Supprise?

Is this a surprise to the media or the people on this site that civilians are being killed, such is war. The hate for the Americans has always been there, it has just become magnified. We are not being shown half of what is going on in this war, our government won't allow it, and if we were, some would still choose not to believe it, saying it was liberal press, some would use it in anti-war protests, and still some would say nothing.

It is those Marines that are seeing it close up and personal, I am sure they could give a hoot whether the man next to them is a Republican or a Democrat. Politics mean nothing when your getting shot at! Those are the boys that need our backing, not the news media, they get paid big bucks for doing their job. We will not see the whole story for awhile. There is allot of stuff happening, very quickly. I know there is good stuff happening also, people getting fed, without fear, and real hero's coming to light.

Sorry, but this story is false. CNN came out and said it never happened. Also on snopes.com.

Sounded good though.

Now you going to believe CNN? That liberal press organization?
