going down the interstate today (all day!) and went into a rain storm somewhere in tennessee.

turned the cruise control on. and when i hit the "set" button, i get a short flash from the "abs" and "brake" lights. what's up?

when i set the "set" button again, no more lights or flashes. cruise works fine.

thanks for any input... .

scott.

Sounds like you got some water on one of them fancy electrical/electronic sensors/connections we are blessed with. It will either act up again or it won't. I would look at the connection that go to the sensor in the rear differential. Good luck.

The wiring harness from the frame rail to the sensor on the top of the rear diff sometimes wears and cracks over time. If it happens in the wet/rain only I would check the harness too.

well, now it happens all of the time..... only the first time i hit the cruise though. if i set then speed up and set again, it doesn't flash. only on the first time i hit set after being turned on or after the brakes have been hit.

i have checked the connections. all seem ok. it looks like a vacuum connection on the rear diff.

i'm stumped.

i checked the connections at the master brake area and they seem ok as well. would a bad RWAL controller do this? it has no cruise inputs or outputs so i am not sure that would have any effect.

thanks.

scott.

one more thing.....

i noticed that under the fuse box, there is no abs relay where the relay should go. there is a pic under the lid but no relay. nor does there to appear to have ever been one there.

was there a 4 wheel abs version of my truck? i don't see a CAB on the driver's fender. in my manual it says the CAB is on the driver's fender for the 4 wheel abs and under the dash for the 2 wheel... .

is this right?

thanks. scott.
