I have a 2003 CTD 2500 4x4 auto quad cab long box with 165k miles. Recently many wear items, like u joints and bearings, have needed to be replaced.

I replaced both my front hubs / wheel bearing assemblies (one was obviously bad). I ordered them from Dearborn Axle via eBay. They are Timken. The plugs for the wheel speed sensors were not exact, so I cut off the old plugs and moved them over to the new sensors. I used a good connector and then heat shrinked and protected with split loom the connections.

After about 2 miles of driving, my ABS and Brake light on the dash come on with a warning tone. My questions are:
-Why does this happen after 2 miles? If it was a bad sensor wouldn't it happen immediately when moving?
-What is the best way to test the sensors?
-Can I just order new sensors?
-Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

I already moved over the plugs, and I threw out the hub that was bad. I only have the one that was good, and the plug is off of it.

the computer is slow at going through the processes that is why it takes a couple miles before it registers.

Are you saying the new hubs came with new sensors, but they had the wrong electrical connector? So you used the new sensors and cut the connector off the old sensors to solder on the new ones?
