Hope this isn't too dumb, but how do you access the fuel port for attaching a fuel pressure gauge (autometer). At least on my '01 the fuel pressure test port appears to be like a tire valve stem?? Do you remove and install a male fitting? or??

Thanks much for the help. / Its been an interesting day installing EGT, Boost and now starting on fuel pressure.

The valve is called a "schraeder valve". It requires a female connector with a center depresser, that pushes down on the core, and pressure can be read. I've heard of some pulling the fuel line, drilling & taping a 1/8 fpt into the side, or top of it to access fuel pressure. Not real sure about how.

Vaughn,
What you need is a female fitting, called a -4AN (just say "dash 4 fitting" so you sound like you know what you're talking about). Just use a nice clean tire stem tool and unscrew the schrader valve then hook on your gauge. Just don't forget to screw it back in when you're done of course! Also, like frijole aluded to, there might be a -4AN fitting with the depressor in the middle already so you don't have to remove the valve.

I'd keep a couple extra valves handy incase you drop and lose the original (like I did). It's the exact same size valve used on bicycle tube stems so they're not hard to come by #ad

If I can find the "dash 4" fittings, would they work for a permanent setup with electric senders and one gauge.

Wait a minute Vaughn (MacKenzie)... I've been calling them (in this example) 4AN for at least 25 years. Did you generation Xers change the rules? #ad

Dash?, dash?... what the hell is dash???? #ad

LOL

Hey wait a minute, when I ordered the fittings from Gary's son at Summit Racing he knew exactly what I was talking about when I ordered 8AN fittings. #ad
LOL

I like Illflem's idea. Any of you know whether there is a problem going that way. I am thinking of it as permanant hook up for the fuel gauge.

I will try to run down the appropriate fitting today, but I have the added problem---in addition to me not sounding like I know what I am doing, I live 55 miles from the nearest WallMart--thats 200 miles from the nearest Cosco; so it is real often that I can't find anyone else who knows what I am talking about either. It allways seems to be the blind leading the blind.

Thanks, guys for all the help.

Vaughn
