Got some goodies from PDR today. My question for the non-intercooled bunch is, which way up or down do the adaptor tips go on the injectors, here is some pics. tia, Bill

Option "A" in reference to the adapter... ... .

The rubber things I have as well and have NO CLUE what they are used for. Never seen them until I purchased my POD's

You had it right the first time!!!

I had to "squeeze" mine just a scoosh so they would stay on during installation. Just a light tap with a wrench was plenty to accomplish that.

Bill,

Use ONLY the adapters. They are the washers. No additional washers.

Jay

edit: Bill, if you measure the collar thickness on the adapter you will find it's the same (within a couple thou) as the washers on your stock injectors.

I got the rubber doo hickeys with my EDMs. What the heck are they for???? This is vexing me now; someone help me out here. Let us know how the PODs work for you. You get a turbo to go with them sticks, or you just gonna make your H1C scream for mercy? Look in my reader's rigs for how to adapt the HX35 to the H1C outlet. PITA, but worth it.

The fellow from PDR said there was 'something' in the kit that is for a different app, maybe for the 2nd gen? Can't wait til tomorrow to install the PODS. BTW, put my aneroid spring back in and it feels like someone added about 500 lbs of sandbags to my bumper to drap behind... hmmm whats with that? Bill

Ok... . geezzzzz... ... those "what the heck are they's" are caps for the injector top. Some use them, some don't. They can be hard to get on but they basically provide a cover for the injector top to help reduce water/dirt etc from getting down the inside of the injector body/barrel... (my word). These parts get put into most of our kits to save the customer from "having everything but the one last item" which got overlooked...

Right now, I do NOT have them in place on my POD's...

Oh, if ya want we can send you a HX35'd PDR'ized H1c... . but hey, then there's no challenge to it is there.....

Ya also, don't bend the adaptor barrels, just use some grease or vasaline to hold in place while installing. Also, use just a scootch of anti-sieze on the threads to help later in life...

After 5 hours of riggin, fittin, and 3 trips to town in the Ford, NOW the Old Fart tells me. It would have been SOOOO much simpler if you'd told me that a year ago, Pastor. But then, I wouldnt have had the design for the rest of the membership, would I?

OK guys, off on a quick tangent!

I've owned a CTD for about 10 months now (nice clean 91. 5!), and up to this point have already done oil changes, fuel filter changes, and valve lash adjustment (as well as a ton of non-diesel specific maintenance and repairs such as axle u-joints, motor/transmission mount replace, exhaust replace, etc!).

So I'll swallow my pride and ask - after looking at a couple of the FAQ forums, having found descriptions of dozens of other acronyms (but I cannot find!) what the heck are "PODs"?? :) :)

I'm sure I've missed it someplace in here -

Thanks!!!

POD'S are a type of fuel injector or lets say an upgrade over stock injector. I'm sure someone else can answer better. Made my Lucas Delphi I believe. POD'S stand for 'Prince of Darkness'. Flow lots of fuel waaahooooo... . add about 60 hp to the wheels on intercooled trucks, 90 torque to the wheels. Bill

Thanks for the info, guys! Like I said, I'm up to speed on a lot of the Cummins language and I've been pretty good at finding things on the TDR site here, but I couldn't find anything on the PODs!!!

BTW, I just order a set of Power Wagon injectors (and a 14cm turbo housing!!) from City Diesel!!!! :D :D

Uh Oh. How much were they? Or were they leftovers from the pre Bosch reaming? About 3 months ago, Bosch decided to up the price of the PW and 275 RV injectors (24V) by 100%. Why they decided to do it to the 1st Gens is beyond me- you can get a set of EDMs for what PWs cost, and the former are a much better injector IMO, though I digress, I have no experience with the PWs; just what others have observed.

NOW for the rest of the story-

Contrary to popular belief, the PODs are not named so because of the smoke cloud they leave, though it IS a convenient coincidence. It has to do with Lucas brand shop lights one of the TDR vendors used many years ago, and the lights were less than totally reliable, leaving them in the dark at the most inopportune moments. Hence, the "Prince Of Darkness. " The injectors are made by Delphi (formerly CAV-Lucas); not sure if it is the SAME COMPANY or just the same name.

And now you know..... the REST of the story.
