Has anyone had DC reprogram your ECM after changing tire size? I'm trying to do it right now, but the dealer told me today that they did not have the right program to do it and that they would need to get an update - which they said they were in the process of doing. The dealer said that they have changed the tire size, but for some reason they were not able to do it on my truck. I also asked them to turn on the 3-cylinder high idle feature, and they said the same thing - they cannot access that part of the ECM program. They want me to go down there tomorrow and try again (after they have loaded up the new program). Has anyone had the same problem? I have a 2001 2500 auto that was built 5/01. Any hints on how I could help the dealer figure out what they are doing wrong? Thanks for the help. Oh, I went from the stock 265/75-16's A/T tires to 285/75-16's M/T tire and love them!

I thought that they could program just about any size tire. I also heard that they should be able to input what ever tire revolution I have if the size was not available. Any thoughts? Anyone have this done? Thanks.

Well - talked to the dealer today, and they told me that they would not be able to do the TSB and tire size change until Monday, when they complete the program install on their computer. All they told me that they had to load a CD, and that I would have to wait until Monday to get the service done. I would have thought that this program load would have been pretty quickly. Why didn't their computer have the proper updates on it already - my truck is a 2001? Has anybody else have problems with getting the high idle activated and/or tire size changed? Thanks for all the help.

They changed mine by setting the revs per mile. They had a book with tire sizes in it and the approx revs so I picked the tire on the list with the closest diameter and it seems to work fine.

when I first put my tires on I ask that question and they told me that it couldn't be done, I've not been back since. But if you want to recalibrate the Cumputer for tire size,or what ever,The Superchips Micro Tuner did the trick for me, Oh yeah little more power not much Just a little,

The dealer can recalibrate the speedo using their DBR II diagnostic tool. It is done by going into the Anti-lock Brake program. For tires that are not stock you figure how many revolutions per mile that the tire will turn and enter that number. It also recalibrates the overhead console computer.

i got one of those superchips tuners a while back for free, im glad i didnt install it since after you do it can only be used on your truck (or i have been told) but anywho you can buy a module from 4wheel parts that changes rev/mi i think its about 80$ but if your dealer can do it then its probalby cheaper, although the module is programable so if you ever go up in size again you can just recalibrate.

Use the drb, got to anti-lock mod, then set pinion factor and enter the revs per a mile. All the dealership should need a is a super card 2 and that has been out for years.

Hey MMclaughlin can you post pics. of your truck with the new tires on? I want to go with the same tire size that you went to.

#2DSL - I have no idea how to post pictures - I have some, I guess I can e-mail them to you if you would like. As for the DRBII tool, I actually have one, and it claims that there is "no module" for the ABS menu. I'm guessing the dealer is having the same problem, and he is trying to correct it by "up-dating" his software. My brother-in-law (who is lending me the tool) told me that it should work on all DC cars and trucks - including Cummins equipt trucks. I am able to go into some features and do some things, but all the ABS stuff is unavailable. Any ideas? I'm suppose to call the dearer today to find out if they were able to reprogram their tool.

Ok - I just talked to the Dodge dealer that I went to first, and they now say (talked to a different person) no problem at all, so I called a different dealer and they said that there are some trucks that you cannot change those settings - saying that the ECM is effectively locked-out. This is starting to get fustrating - can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone. What's the deal with this SuperChips Micro Turner? What exactly does it do - how much??

Ok guys here is the skinny... You need a DRB 3 not 2. You need an up to date version software level. I had to update TGBOLS to the correct level to make his work. Like he said go into the ABS module, choose set pinion factor, from that screen you will be asked a few more questions, axle type, tire size or other for both axle and tire size if you choose other for tire size that is where you are able to enter the revolutions per mile. Piece of cake with the right tools. D/C has given and taken this a number of times. If you are interested in doing this you may want to do it soon before they take it back again.

What is the "correct level"? I assume some certain software rev in the ECM and/or PCM. I've only had one update on my truck to enable the 3 cyl idle feature a little over a year ago. Would this update have included the feature you are referring to or is that something completely different. My dealer here is willing to help me get my speedo recalibrated, but they don't know all the details and I'm trying to get them as much info as possible. Thanks for the info.
