AFE Pro Dry Intake Air Filter

Hi guys, I'm looking to replace my pro guard 7 filter and saw the dry filter intakes and wondered what is everyone's opinion of them? I have almost always had the pro guard 7 on my truck and it may be time for a new one (223,000 miles). Any thoughts or opinions on the pro dry and where to get one that would work with my existing intake system.

I have an AFE that's been sitting on the garage shelf till the next garage sale.



Reason is that I installed it, made sure that all clearances were met and it still got a "half-hole" (not completely through) rub/wear spot on it from engine torque.



After all that I've read on here and other sites about filters, I just decided to put my stock intake back in. I haven't noticed any difference at all in performance and I don't want to re-build my expensive engine anytime soon.



So, were it me, I'd just put the original one back in and run a normal filter.



NOT OIL one either!

If it's the media made by Donaldson it's supposed to be real good better than the wet ones

I have beenrunning the Pro Dry S for probably about 80k miles and haven't had any issue. A little hard to clean and took forever to dry, but still better than messing with cleaner and re-oiling. took a LONG time to even pull the filter minder down. I'm ashamed to say how long it was before I cleaned it the first time.

Why not use the stock 4" filter?

If you research dyno results comparing stock (as in OEM) filters to aftermarket you may be surprised. If your not about over 700rwhp then there's no benofit to aftermarket intake. IMO, there's never a benefit to an oiled filter.
