It'll be interesting to see how quickly aftermarket accessories and performance parts will be available for these trucks.

IF I was to buy one... and there's no way I could afford one right now... HERE'S WHAT MY WISH LIST WOULD LOOK LIKE:

Mag-Hytec front and rear differential covers (for those new American axles)

BD exhaust brake (the entire exhaust system is now 4" )

Horton Fan clutch (not sure, maybe the present one is compatible?)

Denver Off Road winch bumper (that would make a BIG difference in the appearance of the front end)

Suspension companies like Skyjacker, Rancho, etc: a selection of lift kits

BF Goodrich and other tire mfrs: taller & wider all-terrain tires for 17" wheels with an "E" load range

Wheel mfrs like Centerline & Weld: Wider, heavy duty 17" wheels for the above tires

ARB: Air Locker front and rear differentials

Xenon, Warn, etc: Fender flares

Stull or other body accessory mfrs: A selection of billet grilles, etc.

Then of course there's the long list of engine performance guys...

... and the auto transmission guys, like DTT & BD (although I'd buy a 6-speed, myself)

WHAT ELSE? Feel free to add to this list.

Andy

HID lights.

Locking fuel filler door and tailgate. It's hard to believe DC still hasn't joined the locking tailgate crowd.

Available navigation system.

Heck, while we're at it how about an available (as an option) dumping bed.

Power rear slider.

I'm sure there are others.

Good ideas, Benson, especially the locking tailgate. I meant this topic to be in regards to the aftermarket accessories people, not DC. I added an aftermarket tailgate lock on my '97 truck, it taps into the power door locks & alarm system. So, there's another one to add to the list: a tailgate lock kit.

I think what you are seeing is the electronics control module for those fancy new electronic injectors (just a guess). It looks really attractive stuck on top of the valve cover complete with a hole for the oil fill, doesn't it???

jwilliamson, , the new generation HDs won't hit showrooms for a few months yet since they are 2003 models.

if i decide to get one ,,

i'll probably get the 6-speed with the HO engine and leave it stock:D :D

just being curious,,wonder if my powermax3 will be able to be re-programmed for use on the '03's

ICEMAN - nope, no way. The new injection system is completely different. However TST has a box for the Cummins N14 common rail system so I wouldn't expect it to take long for them to release one! :D

wheels & tires

Andy, I agree about the tires, but the Weld wheels are quite heavy duty, rated at 3200 lbs per wheel... that gives you a 12,800 lb GVWR for the wheels! Tires is a different story...

I like the wheel sizes available, but some more offsets are needed for today's trucks with VERY positive offset wheels. My 17x8 with a 4 7/8 backspacing is still out too far, but they don't make a 17x10 with 6+ backspacing! OH WELL!

Vaughn, I understand the HD's aren't out yet, my point being that Gale Banks has a common rail 5. 9l Cummins he's doing research on and putting it in a Dakota to set a land speed record. So most likely some things he does to that motor may find it's way into the HD's.
